Hi all!
First timer @ 24 wks! Been seeing the OBs at AOC parnell, so far met 4, and a bit underwhelmed by what I've gone through so far? They all seemed quite standoffish n not particularly interested in doing much except take my blood pressure.
The only one so far i've had that showed any kind of interest was this first one I had, a Paul Mcpherson.
Did anyone go through AOC too? Do they 'grow' on you? Has anyone had any of them fir a Csection and how was the experience?
Thanks!!!

I am with AOC and I have found them all really good. I've seen all of them bar one and while the men haven't been quite as, for the want of a better word, personable as the females - I can't say I've felt that they've been stand offish.

It took a while to get used to the 15 minute appointments but I always make sure I take a list of questions with me so I don't feel rushed.

ETA: I know quite a few people who have used them and said that at the birth they were fantastic and that they wouldn't with anyone else for their next baby(s).

I know what you mean!! I am 35 weeks and the only person who remembers me is the lovely receptionist- blonde one, Heather.. The other receptionist is rude and REALLY unfriendly!! I was there yesterday and the other receptionist was on the phone to a lady who was asking what she could take for a terrible cold she had. heather was telling her everything she could think of and was really friendly to her- and then she asked the other receptionist if she could think of anything she missed out. Without looking up she snapped "she can ask at her next appointment" ?!!! (not helpful when Im sure the lady was suffering from the cold NOW!)
I LOVE Lynda- personality plus and the first one who showed true "human" interest in us as first time parents to be etc. Eva is wonderful too- really approachable and cares a lot.. a lovely person. Very thorough and I never feel silly calling her for advice. They are ALL extremely good at what they do medically and Tim Dawson saved my friends baby's life when she got stuck in delivery. I just think that a "human" element is missing. Up until this week I was asked "when is your delivery date" each time etc... where as it would be nice by this stage if they "knew" you more. I do feel rushed most appointments.. and have to take a list and STOP them before they rush to take my BP and ask my questions. I dont like this feeling... Lynda was the only one who asked if I had any questions.
I feel safe with each and every one of them for the delivery- but I am hoping to get Eva or Lynda as I feel i have built somewhat of a relationship with them.. giving birth seems like a very "personal" experience and for me this is important.
I think its great that you get a "fresh" specialist for the delivery i.e not one who has been up for 3 days.. but perhaps more effort could be made in having a slightly more personal approach?
Interested to know others thoughts....

I had Paul for my Csect - I'd only met him for the first time the week before but he was just lovely (and very good with DH)
Definetely take a list of questions with you to appts - they are always happy to answer them but its easy to feel rushed in a 15min appt.
Some of them you warm to more than others but there weren't any I wouldn't have minded being there for the big day
