I was just wondering how you get on with introducing solids and fitting them around day sleeps?

DD seems to want a sleep following a bottle, so solids get missed out because she is grumpy/ asleep. How do you fit them in? Do you offer them sooner after a feed, or once they wake up?

About 30 minutes after a feed worked for me, any later than that she was tired or ready for more milk.

With Ben I never followed the milk first, solids 2nd rules like I did with Jack, but then I did BLW with Ben and didn't with Jack.
I would offer solids (before or after milk) whenever it fits best into her routine, just ensure that milk still remains her main food source and that solids are just a sample/top up for the first few months.

Yeah I agree with Linzy, since Maddi often fed herself to sleep we obviously couldn't give her solids after. We ended up fitting solids in between feeds, so she might have a BF at 10:30am - sleep for a hour - then have some solids after shes woken up a bit, then a BF. She was still BFing heaps through out the day so didnt really see it was doing any harm offereing it in a different order and specially since she would only have a couple of teaspoons anyway.

We do BLW and the only time he got solids before boob was lunch and that was from 8 months. Our 'routine' (routine on demand) went something like this at 7 months:

7am - BF
8/8.30am - Breakfast Solids
9.30am - Nap

11am BF (until 8 months then it was solids first)
11.30am/12pm - Lunch solids

1/1.30pm - Nap
3pm - BF and sometimes a snack before dinner
5.30pm - Dinner
6.30/7pm - BF for bed

TK is 6 months this Saturday and I have been exclusively BF. Just started solids (BLW) last Saturday. I have always tried to offer BF soon after TK wakes and then again before nap.

I have noticed that when I offer BF now, soon after he wakes, he doesn't seem to interested (probably because he only naps for 1 hour blocks during teh day). Either way I offer solids 10-20 min after first feed, and then offer again after solids.

I plan to do this for atleast a month and then try creeping in solids before BF.
