Hi there

I'm due to have a baby in March and will also have my 3.5yr old boy too.
I've been dead seat on P&T double buggy (not side my side) but just wondering if others with similar age/sized kids have found anything else better?!

I want to use the stroller for walking/jogging - a lot of it!!

I had a P&T double. I got it for my NB & 17mth & it worked great for me as I used it like a car. Baby in the back or lying down & 17mth in top seat.

I changed to a MB side by side when DS3 was 2yrs & DS2 was 3.5, that was a waste of $1000 as DS2 decided he no longer wanted to be in a pram.

Take into account how heavy & tall DS1 will be at 3.5yrs. Will you be running with 2 kids in the pram or 1? Is the pram mainly for baby?

Other options are MB with board on back for DS1, not for running tho.

MB now have an incline buggy for 2 kids out now.

P&T bought out MB a few yrs ago so I think the products will be a lot more a like now. I found MB prams had higher weight capacity which was why I bought a single one to use to walk to & from kindy, DS3 used it till nearly 5yr as I walk about 6-8km a day with him...could not of done that without a good pram.

Thanks Jazzy

I plan to do as much as I can (walk/jog) while the 3.5yr old is at day care for his 20 hours, but will be using the pram with both kids I'd say 2 or 3 times a week I'd say. A lot of people have said that he might want to walk everywhere, but I'm not keen on that because I want to do big walks too.

Phil ant teds would be a great option for you as baby lays flat in the seat and the 2nd seat sits on top of that, so DS#1 will be sitting on the baby so to speak.
but becuase of that, the weight will be centred more effectively.
so long as he fits the weight limit, and fits in the doubles seat height wise, i reckon it would be great
and once he gets to old/big you still have a perfect pram for #2

I have a 3 month old and 3 year old and have the Phil and Ted dash. Baby has to lie flat at the moment but is just about too long now with double seat on the front. My only option at the moment is to lie baby flat ( needs to be about 5mths before sitting in double seat at rear) and toddler in double seat up front. Bub is just about getting too big for this set up though, his feet poke out just where toddlers feet are. My three year old is also too tall for the sun hood to go over her head as well which creates abit of a problem. It's really heavy with toddler up front too, much harder to get over gutters.
Will be better once baby can sit in back and toddler in main seat.
Otherwise is great to have both in the buggy especially around town. I would have a play with one in the shop. Also not sure Phil and ted built for jogging. The Dash sure isn't
Good luck

The P&T would work but I wouldn't have too high expectations of it for taking long walks with 2 kids.

I have a P&T sport and bought a doubles kit when my second son was born.
The age gap between my boys is 3 3/4 years. My DS1 is quite tall, about 20kgs and at 4 almost too big for the front seat. The hood would touch the top of his head and he really looked too big in the seat and felt squashed. I found it ok going for walks with the baby in the lie down position but found it really hard work with the double seat at the back once DS2 was wanting to sit up at 4 months. Once he got to that age he hated lying down in the enclosed space so I had to sit him up to keep him happy. With the double seat on, I also found it a pain because DS1 would want to get out and walk sometimes and the pushchair felt really odd to push with only the weight in the back, very tippy.

I found the best way up to about 4 months of age for DS2 was to have baby in the front pack and big boy in the pushchair.
In the past year I have used the double kit for out and about but never for an exercise walk because it is just not enjoyable having to manouvre it. By the time my DS1 was 4 1/2 years old I would never use the doubles kit, he just walks. If he is really desperate for a rest he will sit in the footwell, but DS2 hates that and kicks him and screams.
I have run with one child in the pushchair and it is fine but I could not imagine at all running with the two, would be so hard to push and such a pain up and down footpaths.

I really looked forward to having the double kit with the P&T but really the age gap between my boys was just to big for it to be that useful. I can admit that now, was adamant at the time that I HAD to have it!
Good luck deciding

I have an older P & T and a 17 month age gap. It does the trick but isn't that great for long distance walking with the two of them. Because my children are close in weight I now put the youngest in the front and the oldest in the doubles kit in the back, this means he can get in and out without the tipping over problem, but it makes it feel a lot heavier with his weight aft of the rear axle. I believe that the new P & T Navigator allows you to sit the children in either seat regardless of weight and if so that may be a better option?

If I could start right from the very beginning (knowing I would have two close in age) I would by the Baby Jogger City Select - but I don't know whether you can jog with it.

Thanks for the advice! Kinney, sounds pretty much like what situation I will be in so thank you very much for posting!
I hadn't really thought about the logistics of actually having to push the 2 kids long distance, Mr3 is nearly 18kg as it is.

Might have to do a bit of a re-think or just atleast lower my expectations :)

Hi there, I have a p&t explorer with the double kit + double sun and rain covers that I am looking to sell - only 5mnth old. My oldest refuses to go in it so want to get something smaller for my 9mnth old. I am in Auckland. Apart from my oldest not wanting to go in it, I really love it, its been a life saver - the rubber wheels make for a much smoother ride for the kiddies.

I've gone for the Phil & Ted E3 with doubles kit myself. In preparation for #3. As I figured Mountain Buggy Urban plus a frontpack just wasn't practical.

And my youngest, who is 3 next month, she likes to run and doesn't comply, so she still needs to go in pram.

Figured this was the most suitable option.
