We're about to book our holiday next year but I'm a little concerned in case I'm pg at that time. I don't want to wait until closer to the time because I need to make sure that dates and everything are confirmed a fair bit in advance. Plus, I don't want to miss out on any good deals.

What has everyone else done in this situation?

We booked a holiday to the uk whilst we were ttc but then I ended up being 6 weeks when we flew and I had bad m/s. So I would suggest booking and then if you don't fall pg take a ttc break so that you don't have m/s when you are on holiday

It is a tough choice but I would go ahead and book it anyway, which is exactly what we did. I had my educational to Fiji and our cruise all when we were TTC'ing. I thought it was important also to go ahead and not put everything on hold for TTC'ing.

I hope that makes sense...ttc'ing is really important but doing stuff for you guys is important too!! (and who knows, if you are not pregnant by then you may have a holiday baby! )

DH and I have been talking about the same kind of thing. We are keen to go travelling for 6 months or so, in the very near future. We figure that we should do travelling together (we've both travelled a bit before, but before we met each other) and think that doing it before babies might be better, but we still want to get pregnant anyway.

We're only thinking of cruising around Australia at the moment, so if we did get pregnant, we'd hopefully be able to get prenatal care there, but haven't really looked into it too much (as we're not 100% sure we'll go, AND it depends on IF we get pregnant and WHEN).

ahhh - just another piece of puzzle to chuck into the mix..... any suggestions?

We have a wedding to go to in Fiji in August so have sort of stopped really ttc as I dont want to be due in August and miss wedding also will need to be under 7mth to fly, get insurance cover and still be a bit comfortable in the humidity. If it does happen to happen during that time I prob would forgo trip to Fiji but would still like Karl to go so would have to be "happy" for him to not be here for birth.

Its a lot to think about but I think you should book, take out insurance when booking just incase flights have to be changed

We are having a family get together in Surfers next SEP.   If we got pregnant now baby would be born in August so that would work out well but if not then I wont go over.....don't want to put ttc on hold. Plus travel insurance covers you up to 26 weeks and would not want to risk travelling without insurance.

We're planning to go for a month in April so it's the earlier part of the year. It's our first anniversary and we're going to meet my mum in London for a week or two as well so I really really want to go. I'm sure we'll be fine really.

Would it be the worst thing in the world to be pregnant on your holiday? Probably not so I would just go for it!

I don't mind being pregnant on holiday. In fact I would love it because mum probably won't see me during my pregnancy otherwise. I just worry about the actual flights themselves.

I flew to England at 6 weeks and flew back again at 8 weeks. Although it wasn't ideal as I had m/s it wasn't that much worse that what the flight is anyway. I was quite lucky on the flight back and managed to sleep a lot which helped. I think the worse bit of the whole experience was queing to get through customs at heathrow (cos I v.nearly fainted). Also because it was early in the pregnancy I wasn't uncomfy in the seats (well no more than normal anyway). We flew with air nz and went via hong kong, the flight wasn't as crowded as the LA one and hong kong airport it really nice the people are friendly and helpful (unlike LA). I found the air hostesses etc really looked after me as well, as I looked like crap.
All I would suggest is if you have m/s take some crackers etc on the plane with you as I really could not stomach the plane food.

We booked a holiday to Australia before I was pregnant and by the time we went I was 16/17 weeks. I waqs most worried about travel sickness (as at that time I could still feel a bit yuck in the tum) but it was fine. At least Australia isn't too far away, but I would also suggest when booking in for flights see if they have the exit row seats available and explain your preggers as they have a bit more room. But TTC certainly didn't put us off our holiday plans. I also went camping last summer with friennds while I was 6/7 weeks preg and my friend was about 15 or 20 I think.

Airlines will carry without medical clearance pregnant passengers up to 30 weeks.

We are planning on having an extended overseas holiday next year, and I may or may not be preggers by then but as that's not confirmed we're going ahead with our travel plans.

If anything a relaxing holiday is likely to spice up the baby dancing and result in conception.

We have been trying since June 2006, and thought because nothing had happened we booked a nice month long holiday to UK via Hong Kong and singapore. Was really looking forward to it in June next year. Then last week found out I was approx 6 weeks pregnant, so would not be allowed to travel in June. Have just had to bring the holiday forward to end of January next year and all is good. I was a bit worried about the flying but have spoken to many people who assured me it is ok, just have to get up and walk around often.

So roll on January, sooooo looking forward to a holiday :)

I think it also depends on where you go on holiday i.e. places like Thailand etc etc as you would need to be a bit careful with the types of food you eat whilst pregnant but otherwise I think you should be OK as you are going to Europe.

Well we're booked so it's all on.

We're going to Europe and Thailand. I doubt eating will be an issue as I'm quite a fussy eater anyway.

Can't wait. Fingers crossed I'll have a nice little bump to show my mum when we get there.
