I was really serious about having it done after the gremlins were born, even at the same time if I'd had a c-sect, but my OB wasn't keen because of my age. I'm glad I didn't get it done as my motivation then was how sick I was and how difficult I found the pregnancy, whereas now that I have had a few months to gain perspective I'd actually be keen to do it again somewhere down the track.

I know I have to go one step further and have the whole lot taken out at some stage (due to endo and some other things). I know Annie is or has already had it done.

We had an elective C-section due to a breach bub. And they didn't ask me about it until 10 minutes before my ceaser. We have three and are well and truly done and I really wish I had it. But when the surgeon realized we hadn't been asked about it before she said it wasn't a good idea to make a snap decision, so bugger!!
But if you are still that 5% unsure maybe not such a good idea. Although you have a bit more time to think about it.

Yep, I'm on the waiting list, it will happenin the next couple of months. That said, though, my birthday pressie this year consisted of Rod getting a vasectomy, so I may not get it done.. only becasue it is a major and with a wee baby and a wedding coming up, I really can't be out of action for 6 weeks. However, I will see if I can get it pushed back til after october (I hadn't expected the waiting list to be so short!)
I am unable to be on the pill, as it makes me super crazy, so this was really the only option for me. I would say I'm about 97%, as there is still a tiny part of me that says "it's so final" even though I really don't want to do the baby thing again. I do get the what if feeling sometimes, too, but realistically, if "something" happened to either of my 2, I wouldn't want to have another baby to "replace" them, but I might want another one, but not straight away, and with our ages, it would make us a bit "old" to be starting out again..Well, Rod, anyhow!
We may foster in the future, though, and there is always puppies, as we breed our dog. (for the clucky thing)

I'd be inclined to wait until my youngest was 2yrs before making a final decision. Wouldn't be able to trust my hormones/emotions!

I have heard on another board (EBB) about there being a lack of success with steralisation during c/s! I think they usually like you to wait 3-6 months before going back in to make sure the job is well and truely done.
Maybe think about that idea a little? Would you be willing to have 6 weeks on your butt with 3 kidlets? Especially since you would get over major abdominal surgery twice in 2 years THEN keyhole (is it still keyhole? or VJJ cam?) surgery on top of that. What about seeing if you can have a different type of *non high maintainence* birth control. So like Mirena, IUD or depo till you can get out of the first year intact, then go for more surgery.
Just a thought for you sugar
