Whilst in TGA hosp last week I got given Fish Pie for lunch....I reminded the woman I dont eat Fish or Pork..so she went off and got me a sandwich................which had in it ...shaved ham and lettuce..... Hmmm seriously wonder about hospitals......
Also remember when just had Blake and my first meal was a plate full of chicken curry with cabbage, cauliflower and brocoli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do they even consider the dietary requirements warnings for pregnancy and breastfeeding mothers?

I can go one better, when I was in Starship with Sienna when she had her kidney surgery I was supposed to be on a strict dairy, egg and soy free diet as I was breastfeeding them. They brought me quiche.
When I complained, they said they'd sort it. I never got another meal in the entire week we were there. Thank God for friends who brought stuff in!

Sounds very familiar....everytime I have been in hospital (both here and in the UK) I have told them I cant have milk, so every morning I still get brought cereal for breakfast. Even in Birthcare they werent that good at remembering. In the UK I never got a meal that I could eat the whole time I was in there (5 days) Luckily there was an M&S next door, so DH would bring me a salad up every night for tea.

Oh and Kelpa - I would write to them and complain. Its pretty shocking that they didnt accomodate your needs, and obviously too late now, but you should at least bring it their attention. I would address it to either the CEO or the Quality Manager.

I was in Waikato Hospital last year after surgery...for breakfast they gave me toast, with dairy-free margarine to spread on it, and So Good in a small carton - I have to be dairy-free due to lactose intolerance. I thought it was fantastic.
At Southern Cross they gave me a choice of what I wanted as well, and if there was nothing suitable then they were happy to make me something (I was there through the public system rather than private). I can't wait until we can afford medical insurance for me again, with them.

My SIL is diabetic and when she was in hospital with her first (in the uk) they were so bad that her doc (diabetes doc not baby doc) actually went to the cafe and bought her some food cos she was gonna get really ill otherwise.
I found CWH quite good, although whilst I was in there antenatally they did serve a lot of food that pregnant women aren't suppose to eat but I was so over being pregnant I didn't care anymore and ate everything.
