   Hi,
Has anyone been prescribed and used progesterone suppositories during early pregnancy? If so did you get any side effects? Have just found out I am pregnant and I am under the care of the recurrent loss clinic in Auckland, started them today. Wanting to know what to expect!

 Thanks

Hi jk87. I used progesterone during my last ivf and embryo transfer. I would highly recommend panty liners as those dang things are messy! I got quite irritated 'down below' by them . And they're a bit like tar in their consistency (from memory). Other than that it was aok. And everyone reacts differently. Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get utd.
 Wishing you all the best.

Hi JK87, like Babycrazy I used them when we did embryo transfers with our two rounds of ivf.  Definitely use panty liners, they get a bit messy lol and symptoms would be symptoms you would get from elevated progesterone due to pregnancy I would imagine.  Anything from sore boobs, bloated, gasy, acne.  At the end of the day is increasing your progesterone to a point where it would normally be during pregnancy, so any symptom would be like a pregnancy symptom? hope that helps and all the best    |

Thanks very much! I haven't got any symptoms yet aside fromSore boobs so was hoping to avoid nausea for a few more weeks as it usually kicks in around 6-7 weeks for me, but will cope with anything for a hopefully positive outcome.

Hi JK87. I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday and have been on progesterone since I confirmed ovulation over a week ago. So far nothing obvious in the way of side effects but definately pantyliners a must. When are you due? I'm trying to get a group started but waiting for admin to open a forum.

I used them and felt very bloated. I was also incredibly nauseous but that could well have just been regular morning sickness! :)

I also was prescribed progesterone pessaries (or "messaries" as I came to call them) after two losses. Apart from being a bit messy - make sure you use panty liners - I think they were invaluable in supporting my body through the first trimester. I didn't have any side effects. Good luck with your pregnancy! :)
