Topic: Vitamin B6 - Short Luteal Phase... Posted: 06 July 2011 at 3:26pm |
So I think I have established i have a short luteal phase (around 9 to 10 days from ovulation to next period) and am thinking this could be a problem with our TTC, I have done quite a bit of reading about Vitamin B6 making it longer giving the baby enough time to implant and stick. Has anyone had success using it? I have been told between 100-200mg per day is needed.

I have been using B6 (along with other things) for over a year, and can't directly attribute it to lengthening my LP.
My LP prior to starting anything to try and fix it, was 5-7 days. I began taking Vitex to help lengthen it, and that lengthened it to on average 8-9 days. I have also been taking 150mg of B6 daily, and seem to mostly be stuck at 9 days.
I have seen many women on the fertility friend forum who claim to have increased their LP's with B6 alone though, so I guess if the cause of the short LP is something that can be fixed with B6, then yes, it will work. Only way to find out is to try. Start with 100mg/day and see how that helps. You should notice improvement in PMS symptoms while using B6 too, plus an increase in EWCM.

I was taking B6 and Vitex for a few months, not sure if it truly helped or not, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try. I used a 50mg dose, so you could start with that. I was on a 7 day luteal phase for a bit, which started lengthening while taking the Vitex and B6, then finally fell pregnant after a few months, but looking back, I attribute that mostly to me weaning my toddler off night breastfeeds.

Ok so I am now on CD 7 and am still spotting. Has anyone else had this from taking Vitamin B6? Usually my period is full on for about 3 days and stops. When i wipe there is still some pink tinged stuff. I thought Vitamin B6 also helped to stop spotting but it seems to be causing me to spot more. Anyone experienced this?

Not that I'd associate with B6. I do often have spotting after proper AF flow finishes, but I wouldn't say it was the B6. Have you done or taken anything different other than the B6?
