    Posted: 25 March 2008 at 3:18pm
I was just flicking through Caitlin's Plunket book and noticed that when she was born and up until she was 12 months old, she was on the 75th percentile line, then dropped to the 50th at 15mths and now she's under the 25th!

She's 10kg exactly according to my home scales (which means she hasn't put on ANY weight since she was 12mths!) and approx 85cms. (she was born 4285kg, 52cms)

She's fairly healthy (no illnesses other than her continuing constipation), eats what I would expect any toddler to eat if not a little less.

I just remember from ages ago someone saying to me that it is only a worry if they drop 2 percentile lines - I don't remember if that was from a reputable source or not though.

Am hoping Kelly will see this and give me her professional Plunket Nurse opinion

I'd really not worry if she is happy and healthy.

They also seem to go through up and out growth spurts at different times, so she could have just been having an 'up growth spurt' each time you saw your plunket nurse.

Seb went from 10.8kg at 10 months, to 10.5kg at 12 months, while he was becoming more active, and he's only maybe just got back up to 10.8.. not sure, he hasn't been weighed in a while, but he still fits all his up to 12kg naps with plenty of room to spare.

I wouldn't worry about it so long as she's getting plenty to eat!

Just had a look at his plunket book and his line has pretty much done exactly the same thing Caitlin's has - was up at 75th at 10-12 months, then down to 50th by 15 and now is on the 25th line.

Oh - and I am sure you would know if it was a problem, but if you are worried, is there a plunket drop in cetre you can go to?

I never looked at the percentile charts, I don't even think the Plunket nurse filled them in.

My girl stayed at 10kg for over a year, and after that she very gradually put weight on. Remember that when they start walking they won't be putting weight on as fast!

She is coming up 4 years in a few months and weighs just on 15kg now.

Alyssa hasn't put on weight in ages either (since about 12mths), and doesn't quite break the 10kg mark. I think her and Caitlin look about the same height too? (Can't quite remember though cause usually Alyssa is sitting down in Tyrell's car when they see each other haha)...

I guess we're in the same boat as you guys if it is a problem? Both girls look healthy and happy to me though.

Their weight gain does slow dramatically around 12 months, and she has just had a tummy bug so might have lost a little, my girls lost 2kg each when they had it last year.

Some interesting Info... Not really related to Miss C, but interesting all the same. There are 2 centile charts, the plinket one, which is an avergae weight based on formula/mixed fed babies, and a breast fed babies centile chart. Both are normal, but the chart plunklet uses allows for the fact that mixed or formula fed babies are often a little heavier.

If you think she is healthy, she probably is!

Gina has never been a big baby anyways and I tend to think, if she's healthy and happy then she must be OK. Not sure about the 2% thing but will be keen to read more if anyone knows

See, I keep hearing that, but plunket often tells me that they see bigger breastfed babies and have no problem with them beingint he 97th percentile (like Lily is). maybe they are just trying to make me feel better? Becasue her 10kg came from breastfeeding and veges alone! (and no potato or kumara in there either. We have only started meat recently and bread too).

I think it is what it is. Your baby is Normal for her, if you get my drift. My Jake was always big, and Char has always been little.
Lily is a great size, plenty to come and go on if she is sick!

She did lose some weight - but no where near as noticeable as with your girls.

It's just kind of (but not really) bothering me because she was SO BIG at birth. Maybe she was just getting over my genes (i.e. on the bigger side of skinny LOL) before her Daddy's kicked in

Either way she is (usually LOL) a very happy go lucky girl and full of energy so I know there's nothing "wrong" with her

LOL you are not SO BIG! Caitlin was, that photo on your fridge cracks me up, but she's like my chubbies, she's outgrown her baby fat.
