I don't know about you guys, but this has been a heck of a year for me! I'm so looking forward to waving farewell to this year, and welcoming in the new one.

In saying that though, there have been some wonderful times, and wonderful people who have helped me get through what has truly been the worst year of my life. So I want to just say.......

* I am thankful to the fantastic women's support agencies who have helped me this year, in particular Preventing Violence in the Home

* I am thankful for my wonderful son, who has given me something so beautiful and tangible to look to when I need a reason to carry on

* I am thankful for my amazing friends and family who have lifted my soul and my heart with their unconditional support and love, and their beautiful little acts of kindness

* I am greatful to God for bringing me to this point of peace and grace

And most of all I am thankful to be alive, healthy and looking to kick a** next year!

And just a little note to my two special friends who I met on here and just couldn't have done without.... Mel and Jo. You two went above and beyond. Mel, thank you for mopping me up in the immediate aftermath, and Jo, thanks for the many many hours spent on the phone keeping me sane. You both rock.

Peace out

EDITED TO SAY: So what are you all thankful for this year??

I am thankful for my hard working DP who makes it possible for me to study fulltime..and not have to find a part time job during the holidays so I can spend quality time with our son. He provides for my son and I in any way that he can..and I all too often do not thank him enough.

I am thankful to our Heavenly father who has blessed me with the most precious gift in this world, my son. Who has guided me through the ups and downs of the past year...and who has pulled me out of my overweight pity party! lol. Who is always there to listen to my concerns, and never casts judgement on me. He is another that I need to thank more often.

I'm thankful for my family, especially my Dad and Mum..They are forever giving to others, and constantly bailing some of my siblings out!....they are truly selfless.

I am thankful that I've enjoyed the company of my family and friends for another year. That I've finally decided think about my own needs...and I hope this projects into the coming new year.

I am thank full for having a really good husband and father for my kids. All my moaning and nagging about silly stupid irritating things I know he loves us and that he actually do listen to what I say. He provides for us and loves me for who I am nagging part included.

I am thankful for my daughter. Yip I had a look this year into how it will be when she is a difficult teenager with all the over the top drama. But she is still my girl and I love her so much. She can be a handful but she is my handful.

Then I am so thankful for the birth of our son. I really was scared of having a boy. But once he was in my arms I knew he was meant to be in our little family. And I never ever knew how loud a boy can get. Now I know. And he is just super quirky and makes us laugh. I honestly cant believe last year that he was just a blob still.

Then I am thankful for the new house we have. (okay old house but new to us and even through I am superpeeved at previous owners for painting over wallpaper I cant wait to see the end result in the next couple of years once we are done).

That my DH and I held it together even though it looked like that wouldn't be the case for a while

For my parents and extended family/friends who kept me as sane as possible during the worst time of my life and who continue to support us all as much as they can

For the safe arrival of Ava, even though I complain about her all the time she is still my wee angel

For my midwife, who was the most amazingly kind person I've ever met and we above and beyond to support me with issues outside the pregnancy

That we no longer have to go to hospital every time Jack has a fever/falls over/gets sick as he seems to be recovered and his infection markers and neutrophils are about normal

I am thankful for our amazing two angels who just couldn't wait to get here so decided they wanted to be August bubbas instead of September, after making us wait for so long for them to arrive with a number of bumps in the road along the way.

I am thankful for my DH, for putting up with me through the hardest, most stressful time of our relationship - getting married, being pregnant and premmie babies. Also for supporting me with everything that I want to do and not complaining too much.

I am thankful for my mum, who has helped me in ways I never imagined she would (we never had the greatest relationship before the girls arrived). And for dad, who dotes on his two latest grandbabies!

I am thankful for DH's family, without them our house wouldn't be as warm and comfortable as it is now.

I'm thankful for all the blessings in my life. My husband, my kids - especially my eldest daughter who teaches me so much every single day. My mother and in-laws who offer unconditional support. My friends who are always there. My church family that challenge me to grow and to think beyond my own circumstances no matter what is going on. And for sun!! Because everything is better on a sunny day.

I'm thankful for my struggles as without them the good times wouldn't seem so good and I wouldn't be challenged to grow and develop. I'm very very thankful for the times when my hardships mean I am able to help someone in a similar position. There is nothing quite like seeing a positive come out of a hardship.

I am grateful to be ending this year on a more positive note! And boy what a year it has been, last 6 months have been a real rollercoaster ride both physically, mentally and emotionally (and not to mention health wise). I'm glad to be getting us out of this house and into a healthier home, to be spending Xmas with both my family and my partners family.

I'm also thankful to have reconnected with my partner (been good friends for 5 years but had lost contact until 6 months ago), humbled that he has accepted my son and treats him as if he was his own child, and that DS absolutely adores him and this whole process has happened naturally. His family are amazingly supportive and have seriously stepped up and helped me out A LOT in the last 3 months- more than I could have ever asked for or expected, I have the best MIL-to-be hands down!

Theres a huge list I could add to the above, but the biggest thing I'm thankful for is my son - never a dull moment when he's around. He's such a crazy delightful wee character that has me in constant fits of laughter 99% of the time. Don't know where I'd be without him!

And before I forget, I have to agree with Joshierocks - Mel you have been a pillar of support when I've needed a friend, advice or just someone to spill my guts to. You are an Amazing woman, never ever forget that! I hope the new house is treating you well and that you're enjoying the long walks on the beach

Wow I hardly come on here anymore and was made aware of this post by my sister

I'm thankful for my friends and family and my 3 gorgeous kids and my best friend Craig.

I'm thankful that we were were big and brave and made the move to Orewa, the best decision we've made apart from having our kids.

I'm thankful for our families who rallied around for us on moving day... what fun that was!

I'm thankful for the fact that I was able to be there for Steph and Clare when they needed me, they know I can be a right biarch and can be more honest than I think they expected me to be! BUT they still remained friends with me and knew I would be there for them 100%.

Thanks!

I am thankful for a wonderful hubby. He can drive me up the wall sometimes but he is a fantastic husband and an amazing dad and I dont know how I would have survived the past four months without him.

I am thankful for my amazing mum, who has been such a support since our wee man arrived. I only hope I can be as good a mum to our son. And for the rest of my support network like extended family and friends and the gals from the August 09 thread.

I am thankful to have the most incredible little brother, who absolutely adores our son and is so good with him for a 20-something year old bloke. He's stepped into the place my dad should have been in if he was still around, and I know how proud he'd be.

I am thankful that this Christmas we'll have our little four month old boy with us. The past year has been full of ups and downs, and while sometimes he drives me nuts, I don't know what I'd do without him. He means the world to me and so what if he's not the best sleeper, or the most settled baby, he is our precious wee boy.

I am thankful for my wonderful wee family, we have so much fun together and I love seeing my DH and Callum play and laugh together.

I'm thankful for my gorgeous wee boy who is no long "wee." I feel very blessed and lucky that he has come so far in just a year. From a tiny wee premmie to a strapping almost-toddler!

And I'm thankful for some amazing friends who have helped us out over the year, particularly when Callum was a wee bubba and we didn't have famly around.

I'm also thankful for the lovely ladies here on OB and all the great advice I've found on here in the past year. And PARTICULARLY all the Nutty Feb 09 Mummies

I'm thankful that we got to the bottom of taine's health issues - and that is was nothing too serious.

I'm thankful weirdly enough to the moron who broke into our house - prompting my dad to offer us enough money for a house deposit for our first home

I'm thankful for my dad and stepmum for the above money

I'm incredibly grateful to my mum and grandmother who love my boys to bits and drop everything to help us out at anytime.

I'm grateful to my DH. we've had such a few years of ups and downs and we are stronger than ever.

I'm thankful for my job. the kids drive me crazy but the gratitude today was amazing. and the performance I directed was great and worth it!

I'm grateful for my health. after having a friend my age diagnosed with MS and just struggle, it really brought home how important my health was.

I'm grateful to everyone here who lets me vent away, who listen to my dumb things, and reassure me.

I'm grateful for a life where we don't have to struggle for food, we don't have to work out how on earth we are going to pay for kids' xmas presents, we moan and groan about not having enough money, but really we are good. (and on that note - am off to buy food and presents with jake for the salvation army.)
