Topic: What does your DH/DP think..... Posted: 04 June 2008 at 3:51pm |
of TTC and all that it entails?
Because we have just started mine is really interested in all the science behind it and is loving the fact that we have to BD all the time. We feel the same way about wanting a baby - neither of us is more obsessive about it than the other which I think helps. He laughs at me being on this forum though!
Just wondering how other DHs cope once you have been trying for a while? I know that women are good at talking about things but men aren't so great

At this stage he is more interested in what will happen to my hormones now im off BCP!! ok ok, we've only just started actively TTC but i have been getting ready for this for the last year (T1 Diabetic)...
He said to me last night that he hopes it doesnt take to long for a natural AF to come along cos he doesnt wants to know how my cycles are off the bat! I told him they probably wont be but i think he is impatient to start TTC at a point where we know my cylces and ov dates etc!! lol
Men are funny!

My DH will do anything for the 'baby'. I can get him to eat more fruit and veg, got him taking a multivitamin, drinking less. He is also really stoked that we get to DB a lot - I think that this is the highlight

Hi with our daughter my DH became very disheartened wiht the whole TTC thing, especially after 2-3yrs on and off, thank god we got pg when we did as we were going down the clomid - IUI road after an ectopic so it was only going to get worse. It made BD'ng a real chore for both of us in the end with my DH resentful whenever I instigated it as he was convinced i only wanted to do it for a baby. This time we are much more relaxed about it and are enjoying "having to do it!". Good luck with your TTC journey - these boards are a great help if your DH not too "hyped" with the TTC process.

Can't say my DH has been all that enthusiastic about all the TTC stuff - it's been 18 mths trying and he even wasn't all that keen on the 'extra' BDing part at the start (guess I have one of those odd men eh! )
As much as he really wants a baby and to become a dad I often get the impression he'd much rather find another way to go about it!! Maybe things are too technical - I have stopped 'over-sharing' the charting and monitoring my cycle bits with him and try really hard not to just jump him for the sake of OV timing.
It's a very fine line between letting him know its time to get busy and 'pressuring' him. I have however managed to get him downing multi-vits every morning so consider that a great success.

My Dh was just happy to BDing all the time LOL - it took 3 months with Rhyley to conceive and he was beginning to wonder if he was shooting blanks (totally my mans problem there as 3 months is not long) as I had 2 kids before.

DH is pretty happy bout it most the time. really really wants to be a dad (he convinced me to start TTC) because there are so many problems with me i think the thing he most gets upset with is me blaming myself but he looks at my charts and guesses whats happening and stuff. it quite cute really

Yeah, my DH worries I only want him for the sperm too. So not true - the BCP killed my sex drive and now I'm off it I want him often...but he thinks it's all for the baby making...

Mine was all excited when I came off the BCP (way back at the end of 2006) but didn't keep his end of the deal (to stop smoking) needless to say he was kinda dissapointed when we got our BFP 8 less than 7 weeks later, he was hoping for a longer TTC period.

We have been TTC for 6 months now, my DH is very excited but when AF arrived last month he said to me 'maybe we need to go to the doctor' and i said to him ' we have only been TTC for 6 months, we have conceived a singleton and a set of twins all naturally he would laugh us out of the room". Dont think he fully understands the whole process. He has told me that we will have to stop TTC soon because he doesn't want another baby born around calving time which is cool but just sux at the same time.
So hopefully is happens within the next couple of months, fingers crossed

My DP didnt even know how women got pregnant, I only just recently explained to him that its only possible for a few days a month and he was SHOCKED to say the least and explaining everything else to him was a shock too.... ummmm hello you are 30 in a couple of months did you not take sex ed lol!!
As for BDing he is not very interested, he works long hours and stuff so it makes it hard and sometimes it makes me upset because I desperately want another child but whatever lol as long as we get in around O time then I dont mind if I go without for the rest of the month heck I will have to go 9 months without it once we are preg. I think I am obsessed and he thinks I am to which he says has put pressure on him. so thats what my DP thinks lol
EDIT: because that sounded stupid lol. he knows HOW babies are made he didnt realise the whole ovulation thing happened he thought that a egg was there all month lol and was amazed that they disintegrate and another one comes next month lol and he wasnt aware how "on time" you have to be

My DP was excitied about TTCing. He stopped smoking and started taking multi vitamins. We are doing IVF and he has been so good and preparing the injections for me.
He has been a little protective and my family have a habit on putting to much pressure on me so he has made sure that doesn't happen. We have tried really hard to keep the bedroom life exciting so not to make it feel like a chore.

My DP can't wait for us to have a baby BUT (like your DH Angie), is not overly keen on the extra BD it entails! I think he also thinks at time I only want him for his sperm...which is mildly true but I point out it's only *his* sperm I want....not just *any* sperm lol He also makes lots of promises every time I get a BFN that next month we will BD more etc...after 8 months actively trying and at least 1 m/c during that time, he is beginning to realise it's a little harder ttc in your 30's and also appreciates the relatively small window of opportunity! But we love each other heaps and I have definately notcied he is more interested when
A) I don't 'overshare' temps, CM stuff etc lol , and
B) When I get really upset at a BFN
This month he has also checked out a few other charts and gotten a little competitive about BD more than other men LMAO. I am so not complaining!!!!!

My Dh has been interested since before we even started. Infact he wanted us to hurry up. But I was the one that told him we had to wait until we were married (personal choice).
Tehehe Emmecat, yep DH is a bit like that too when it comes to temps and CM. Although I have noticed he will read my baby mags if he runs out of books to read . I dont mind, its less info I have to tell him
