It seems as though everyone I have talked to has gone into labour in the evening/night. Interested to when you guys went into labour?!
I started thinking about it because we live 30mins away from the hospital with NO traffic... but the Southern motorway can be chaos and it can take up to 1hr30! ..

9.30 ish my waters broke (Friday night) and went into hospital at 9am the next day (stopped off to pick MIL up first) so left hers at 9.30 and was at the hospital by 9.50...
When I had my false labour at 32 weeks, it was at 1am, rung mw at 2am, met her at 3am (there were a few drunks around it being New Years...)

My first: 10am waters broke, went to hospital after ringing my midwife at Noon who told me to get my butt there as i was only just 36weeks. Personally i would have been happy at home until around 11pm but needed antibiotics. Son born 4.48am
My second: 10am started feeling odd contraction. Around 1pm knew things were moving along. Went to birthing unit just after midnight midnight. Established 3am (4cms). Born 5am.

Next one will hopefully be a home birth. My advice would be head off when you are ready. Don't wait for your contractions to be the set pattern (i think they say 3mins apart and lasting over 1min before you head to hospital) as my contractions with Kiara only ever got to 40secs and 4mins apart, although at the very end (10mins before birth) no one was timing. I asked my friend to time because i was pretty sure i had really short contractions.

With my first, started at 1am, at hospital by 1.30am and gave birth 8pm that night.
With my second, started at 4pm, at hospital by 8pm and gave birth 11.52pm that night.
I am hoping this time round it is just like my last birth as we are too 30 mins minimum from the hospital.

My mw got me to come to hosp because waters had broken, but my contractions never got regular until the rest of my waters were broken so I agree with Angel4, go when you are ready and make it clear you are ready. But do hold off until it is really unbareable iygwim.

First time i went into labour at 12.30pm, headed to hospital at around 2pm in active labour, she came out at 4.12pm.
Second time i went into labour at 2.30am infrequent, not too painful contractions and headed to hospital at 3am, active labour started around 3.30am and she popped out at 3.38am.

First niggles at about midnight, took 2 panadol and went to bed. Water broke at 2.30am, never went back to sleep (only 2 hours sleep, suck!). Called MW at 6.30 am so she'd have time to call her morning appointments, went to Birthcare at 8.30am. DD born at 2pm on the dot.

#1 was labour pains 4am sat, went to hospital 10pmish sat night & had her 2.30am sun.
#2 11.45pm thurs waters broke hospital at 4am & had him just after 5am.

No traffic either time but by god it felt forever first time around! Only was just around corner from hospital, definitely don't recommend being in back seat unless necessary.
