Topic: Which bottles to use? Posted: 02 April 2011 at 10:15am |
Has anyone used the Tommee Tippie Closer to Nature range? They look like they are good and the info I read about them makes sense but just wondered if anyone has used them or could recommend what they use.
These are for bub #1 who hasn't actually arrived yet! Hoping dad can do a feed so will be bottle/breast feeding ... that is the plan we will see if bub agrees when it gets here :)

My boy wouldn't take any bottle. So sometimes no matter what you try it wont work but I did like these bottles.

It'll completely depend on your bubs. Mine have never had a problem taking any kind of bottle. We alternate Avent & Dr Browns here.
I use them for the little girl I look after but don't see any benefit for them over avent or anything else. Personal choice.

Thanks for advice, I guess it's just a case of buying a couple and seeing if they work :)

I would totally recommend 'Chu Chu' teats. They work the same way as a breast, and are the only teats that my son will take. You can buy them online from goonnappy.co.nz or breastmates.
I tried Closer to Nature but didn't have any luck.

We use Closer to nature bottles, have since birth pretty much. No problems but we were exclusively bottle feeding and I couldn't get her back to the breast. You want one that's BPA free but more bottles seem to be BPA free than they were even a couple years ago

Have the TT ones and I love the air vent on them, the old style ones you'd either have to stop every couple of minutes to release the air vacuum, or loosen the lid 'just' right to get the air flow without leakage. Whereas these vents allow air to keep flowing in, as milk comes out.
Cant vouch for them being any good while breastfeeding (By the time I got them with DD she was already fully formula fed, and am using diff teats on hospital reccomendation with this baby for now), but I would suggest you hold off introducing a bottle until breastfeeding is properly established, I have made this mistake twice now, and have paid for it dearly! Once DD got the idea that bottles were easier, she never went back, and am currently struggling to keep DS breastfed too!

Thanks for the tip about getting breastfeeding undercontrol before introducing bottle ... something I never thought of but makes sense :)
