Can anyone please recommend a wrap that won't kill my back?

I had a look online and there are quite a few different brands...

I prefer to carry my wee man on my back when he is older but I saw on You Tube that the stretchy wraps like Moby Wraps are not safe for that because bub can fall out?

Any ideas please?

I started off with the moby with Tom was a newborn (which was brilliant and a life saver) and then when he got a bit older moved to the Manduca (which can be used on the back or front).

Yep I second the manduca- I still happily back carry my 19month old- hes happy to fall asleep in there too, and Ive worn him for several hrs at a time and had no problems cos the weight is dispersed really well.

Lots of people like mei-tai structured wraps, u can back carry in them too. Ive not tried them myself tho.

I used a length of t-shirt type material and wrapped baby onto my front - same as a moby, when he was newborn but it wasnt that long til he was too heavy like that!

I would go with a woven if you want o back carry later on. It means you do 't have to buy another carrier. Stretchy wraps often aren't wide enough and have roo much stretch to safely use with back carries.

Have a look on TM for Hoppediz wraps. They are good quality , really good price and they have loads of colourways. And they don't take too long to break in .

The only con of a woven wrap is that you can't pre- tie them. Once you practise a bit though it's not an issue.

And if you can get to a Slingbabies meeting you can try some out . There is one in West Auckland and one in Southeast auckland.

I think the Storchweidge or how ever it's spelt is the best back wearing one.

Any good quality woven will do the job, there are a few but Storchenweige and Hoppediz are the ones more readily available in NZ .There is a Storch Anna on Tm at the mo

I swear by my Moby for when A was a tiny tot, but now prefer using my ERGO. Moby was $20 off TM (used once) and the ERGO was off nzsale - awesome prices - The wrap I had no prob with, but I would recommend giving them a go. A only just starting to fit the ERGO now tho, but I didn't get an infant insert. On hindsight, I wished I'd looked into the manduca a bit more!
