I wonder about people giving new mums hand wash only stuff as well! I bought some t-shirts from Egg (yay the 70% off rack!), got them home and realised they said to hand wash! I threw them in the machine and they seem fine so far. I was amazed with all the knit stuff they had that was hand wash only. I can't imagine having that kind of time for day-to-day clothes.

I am pleased I saw this thread - I recently washed a white woollen crochet blanket and luckily it must have been fairly shaded because it's still snowy. But I'll be much more careful in future!
