So I already posted this in the Jan/Feb 08 Mummies thread... but I thought I'd open the floor up...
(I can't believe I'm going to put this out there...)
My libido has come back! YAY!
My bleeding has pretty much stopped, but I know you're supposed to wait for the all-clear from your GP/LMC at 6 weeks, especially if you've had stitches.
But I'm finding it increasingly hard to keep my pants on.
For those of you game enough to answer, who is back on the horse, so to speak, and when did you get back on?
I know I'm a big girl, and can decide what my body can and can't handle... but I miss my DH! (and I know the feeling's mutual).
And also, while I'm on the subject... birth control. We hate condoms. Has anyone else started a contraception routine? My Mum got an IUD between having my sister and getting pregnant with me... but I really don't like that idea. And right now I can't even remember to brush my teeth let alone take a pill at the same time every day... that really only leaves the Depo shot...and I hate needles.
So really, perhaps I should abstain a little longer
(I'm going to go and die of embarrasment now, thanks )

lol no-ones game enough to answer.
I will, of course i'll have to see if i can remember back that far now
Paris i had stitches and they took a while to heal but i think 5 weeks was as long as we waited.
If you have had stitches just remember that owie they will still hurt, the scar tissue will still be new and best to find a *ahem* position that will mean the least amount of contact or pressure on that scar tissue as possible.
Hey, alot of mums just don't get their libido back for a looong time, if at all. So YAYAY! for you .
I'd say as long as you haven't had stitches or have made sure you are all healed and no other problems then go for it. te he.

I think it was only 4 weeks after Jett was born for us. But he was my 3rd baby & he just slid out! A few stitches, but it didn't hurt one bit. It was a different story after having Rico - he was forceps delivery with a cut , so it was about 6 weeks after that we tried & it hurt like hell, so waited a couple more weeks.
Good for you though Charly! I bet your DH will be stoked!!

I'm game enough to answer, after 9 months of pregnancy with twins, I had NO drive at all, but it all came flooding back the very day they were born. No stitches or anything, and I managed to suppres the urge for 10 days......... didn't hurt, but felt REALLY strange - so waited another 2 weeks after that.

LOL Charly!! I am keen now, but still bleeding on and off (sorry if TMI). TBH everything actually feels normal down there, but I had no stitches or anything, and she came out pretty quickly so I'm not surprised!!
Last time I think we waited 6 weeks, didnt have stitches that time either. Felt a bit weird at first, but didnt hurt.
I so know what you mean about missing your husband. Its just been so good to be able to cuddle again without a huge kicking bump in the way!
Oh and the contraception thing - am undecided. We are pretty sure we dont want more babies, but not 100% yet. So not going back on the pill cos it makes me feel awful, but scared about an IUD causing the same issues. Not at all keen on depo for same reason. So I guess condoms it is As gross as they are, I would rather that than get prggy again

Im keen now and its been 2 weeks 2 days since DS was born, but Im still bleeding. As soon as that stops, we will be giving it a go :-) Im a bit nervous about it, but I guess we will just take it gently.
Im not sure about the contraception at this stage. Probably just condoms unless there is a safe pill to take while your bf.

Still waiting for the bleeding to stop here!! I am wondering about birth control too as no more babies for us and DH will be getting the snip sometime soon. Does anyone know when you can start taking the pill again after a baby?

OMG My DD is 12 month old adn my libido still hasn't come back after having my almost 3 year old...
I'm always looking for ways to avoid it, lol and was delighted when AF came back last week, as it gave me a good excuse!
And I used to be such a dirty rooter!

Bahahah fattartsrock! That's awesome
I was never a dirty rooter.... but I think I'm turning into one...
Thanks for your replies. They've totally made me feel better about things.
I'm thinking condoms might be the go, at least for the next two weeks until I see my GP and get sorted back on the pill. With DH on my case, and an alarm set on my cell phone to remind me to take it, it'll be the best way to go.

I couldnt wait that long, it was just over 3 weeks for me i think. I had two internal stitches.
Felt soooo good, took it really slowly. The whole thing lasted about 1 min had to ring the midwife straight afterwards to ask her if id get pregnant?! so embarrassing.
and i must say it felt soooo much better than before?

HAHAHA What did your mw say to that?
I definitely don't want to reply on the old "You can't get preggy while breastfeeding" adage.
I only had 2 superficial stitches, and one of them came away after 4 days, but I've healed nicely, or so I've seen with the help of a small mirror.

Sex scares me now let alone after I have him Im not looking forward to the first time after I have him, but then again I am, if that makes sense.....
I miss being close to DF, but sex hurts right now, so hopefully after the 6 weeks I'll be ok and we can try.
Good Luck Charly!

We "got back on the horse" 2 weeks after Bailey but then my libedo dissapeared when he was 3 months old (thyroid disfunction!) and it didnt come back for at least a year!!
We did it 6 weeks after Astin due to painful stitches and i have had no probs at all with libedo this time round!
