Hi everyone, I have just signed up. :) My partner and I have decided to try for a baby again. I have had a miscarriage before, 5 years ago, and it was such an ordeal for me, I never wanted to try and fail again. Last year we started talking about trying again and in Jan I stopped taking my pill. It might seem way too ambitious, but I’m hoping to get pregnant soon and I’m surprisingly excited. Actually I’m lie – I’m ecstatic and I cannot wait! I went to my GP, got a blood test, started taking Elevit and also saw a dietician. So, just two questions: how long did it take you ladies previously on the pill, to conceive? And, how long do I have to wait to do a Pregnancy test? The first day of my last period was 24th March, so do I pee on a stick on 24th April? Thanks for reading :)

Hi Newbie - welcome! Hope everything goes quickly for you! With coming off the pill, how fast your body starts ovulating varies a lot from woman to woman - some people get pregnant the next month, and some aren't ovulating after a year depending on what else is going on. Lots of ladies on here take their temperatures in the morning to track BBT - hormones before and after ovulation cause your base temperature to increase slightly, which helps pinpoint if/when you ovulate. You can also use ovulation predictor tests. Or, if your cycle is really regular, you can guess you ovulate around 14 days before your period.
With home pregnancy tests they work around 13 days past ovulation (or around when your period would be due). The longer you wait, the more likely you are to get an accurate result!

Thanks Mushroom, I couldn't wait and did another pregnancy test but my results were negative once again. Do I buy an ordinary oral thermometer from the chemist to take my temp?

Welcome newbie. You want a thermometer that has 2 decimal points. I take my temp orally but some people take theirs vaginally as it can be more accurate. We have a charting girls thread where you can have a perk at some charts to get an idea of how it works. For me after coming off the pill it took 8mo tha before things became vaguely normal. I wasn't TTC during tht time but y cycles were very very long and irregular and I suspect I wasn't ovulating.

So after saying I wouldn't test until Monday (12 dpo) it got the better of me this morning and I tested...BFN I thought but as I was throwing the test out I had one more look and there is the faintest faintest line there! Could just be evap but I'll test again tomorrow and see. I have quite a bit of low down aching so I don't know what thats about?

Welcome newbie! There's heaps of great info on fertility friend about temp taking and charting etc. you need a bbt thermometer they call it. So my chart is not very accurate as I just use a 2sec ear digital one, but it's more of an indication for me as I'm pretty regular at ovulating anyway. I conceived DS within the second month TTC since coming off the pill for 11 yrs on it. Then when we began TTC number 2, I got pregnant second cycle again. However that wasn't meant to be and had a missed miscarriage after discovering at 12 wk scan bubs didn't make it past 8.5 weeks. Since my miscarriage we are now into the third cycle TTC. I feel pretty fortunate that it's possible for me to get pregnant as many I know have it a lot harder. So I think that helped me get through my MMC. Anyway, best of luck with TTC!
Little dragon I'm sooooo excited if you get a clear BFP in next few days!! Fingers xd for you!!
AFM I'm just passing ovulation. Had quite good pains yesterday morning much like period pain and was morning after clear positive OPK. Managed some BDing before and during, so hopefully we can be on the ball this month. Feeling very hopeful anyway.

ooh fingers crossed Little Dragon!! I have no pregnancy tests in the house, as I told myself it's only the first month of TTC so best to wait till AF is due (which could be Tues-Thurs) but starting to feel the itch to poas Was super grumpy at DH this morning for a really minor thing (not that I'll ever tell him that!) so AF is probably on her way

Welcome Newbie15 Well after having a couple of days grumpy, thirsty and tired I caved and tested with a Pregnosis Early result test from the supermarket.... BFN so annoyed with myself. :( First time using these tests.... thought I saw a line but there is no colour to it SOOOO ill save the second test for 15dpo as originally planned lol. Give me strength! After having so many miscarriages, testing terrifies me

Little dragon I'm soooooo happy for you! Now hopefully I can get a BFP in 2weeks time. But if I do it's a pity that we can't be in same 'due' month as you'd still be December and IF (FXd) I do this cycle I'll be jan. Anyway happy happy happy! Stick lil baby!

I'm pretty sure I'm 2DPO today. So in the TWW! Testing time should be around Mother's Day! That'd be best present ever.
