I would take nappies just in case, I know they do supply them but probably best to be safe with a few anyway (I think I just put 3 or 4 in there - good use of the sample packs we got!)

Yeah, when I was in hospital last Tuesday I was txting my mum from the birthing suite no probs. They have signs up if you're not allowed to use them, so you will know.

Topsy, will your hospital let your partner stay? I don't know about the one I'm giving birth at but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.

Yes partners can stay. They have only allowed this recently and they have to either sleep in the chair or a mattress on the floor. I think it is a good idea and all hospitals should do it. It must be hard to give birth, be all emotional, exhausted and then left by yourself in a room over night. I think I would sit there in tears not knowing what to do!!! He will probably just stay one night though.

Morning girls, I've had a nice start to my day today. My friend who is organising my baby shower sent out the invites last night & 2 hours later my Dad had emailed to say he'd booked flights for Mum to come up for it (she lives in Timaru, me in Auckland). I wasn't expecting her to come at all so it' was a great surprise.

Other than that it's business as usual. I've now been taking my iron pills just before I go to bed & that seems to have helped a lot. I feel pretty good again hope you all do too.

Mine is on 3 November & is going to be an afternoon tea thing at my friend's place. So it'll be pretty low key & not sure if there'll be games or not. I wasn't too fussed on having one but since my friend offered I thought why not.

I just saw on stuff.co.nz that Nicole Richie has been craving dog biscuits. She's apparently nearly 6 months pg. Random.

Gosh emz, your MW doesn't really sound that great at all. Will you stop seeing her soon when you go on to specialist care?

Thanks for reassuring me Bellababysmum about the happy hormones and being in the hospital alone. I think my DP would still like to be there anyway. He is one of those people that can have a good sleep anywhere. Im jealous

I think my friends will throw me a baby shower but I am sure they will want to keep it as a surprise (they did that for another friend). I hope it will be after uni otherwise I will find it hard to relax. When we all have our baby showers we will have to post lists and photos of all the nice things we get!

Emz, sorry to hear about your MW. It is pretty slack but she may be great for the labour. My MW is quite "painful" to talk to as she goes off on a tangent all the time. It really annoys me as I am one of those "straight to the point" people. However, I am sure her very calm and relaxed attitude will be great for the highly strung labouring woman that I will be. Afterall, that is the most important part. Also, there will be a hospital MW present so it is not as if you will be left in the lurch to deliver the baby by yourself

As for the dog biscuit craving- ewwwww! I dont crave weird stuff yet, I just crave things that I havnt tasted in a while. Oh and a bit of advice, dont visit the recipe section and make the marshmallow. It is yummo and eating lots make you feel a bit ill. I know from experience

ETA: We are almost finished our AN classes Sally. There wasnt much I didnt know but was great for DP and also confirming I have sufficient knowledege to know what to do with a newborn! Have fun at your classes ladies

It sounds like you have a fairly positive attitude towards your MW emz & I'm sure the next 4 months will go fast...

Has anyone else found that their patience levels are at an all time low since being pregnant? Today at work the photocopier was playing up & I had a deadline & the damn thing kept jamming. I wanted to cry, scream & kick it all at once but I didn't. I'm going for a swim later, I desperately need some chillout time I think.

Yeah it has been very quiet in here lately. Glad to hear your first day back is off to a good start.

I got a few baby things done on the weekend. I went to the Snazzipants shop & bought a couple more covers & now I have the nappies sorted for the first few wks (all going to plan of course ). ON Sat night I went to my first baby shower which was fun. And yesterday I sanded and repainted a small set of drawers for baby's room. DH spent most of the day finishing off his bathroom renovations which means he can cross that off his list of "things to do before baby arrives" (but I've actually given him a Dec 1 deadline!). Good to see he's slowly starting to realise that there's not that much time left...
