It is normal for a 10 month old to have full on tantrums?? If I take something away from him, he freaks ! ! Full tanties !!! What can I do about it? Nothing probably, I just feel like such a bad mummy sometimes.  But I also don't want to "give in" but is he too young to understand consequences??? Like a toddler would?

10 months old is not too young to tantrum! The problem is, they understand "no" to mean "try again" rather than "stop"... its not until they get to about 11 to 12 months old than "no" becomes a prohibition.

Consistency, and making sure they are somewhere safe when they go nuts, and not giving the tantrum unnecessary attention are the keys.
Josiah is now 11 months old, and has been tantruming properly for the last 6 weeks or so. We move him out of the doorway (or whatever) he's lying in screaming, and carry on with what we were doing. He doesn't like "no", but is starting to understand that "no" means "stop", and will now pull his hand back from whatever he was going for... he then trys again to see if we still mean it!

Ahhh  Good to know that I am NOT crazy. I TOTALLY agree with Becca and have been doing the same things as you. I was just feeling that doing the whole "no" and "out of bounds" was too old for him. But I am starting to realize the little monster understands a lot more than i realize...  Thanks guys. Take care and this "phase" should pass. BIG  to all of you!!!
