The liquid form they often prescribe it as tastes awful and can be difficult to get in, but boy was it worth it with DS.<br />]]>

If you need it, your doc just gives you a script - it shouldn't cost you anything.<br /><br />Dawn - it is worth a try to just try her without the Gaviscon for even just one feed - you soon know if you still need it!!  A lot of babies outgrow reflux by the time they're 6 months old (this is what my GP told me) and your little one isn't far off that.  The girls stopped their Gaviscon at just over 6 months old - we just went cold turkey, and even though there was a little bit of spilling, it was nowhere near the same as pre-Gaviscon.  <br /><br />Oh, and Treen - we just put it into their bottles of formula.  On the back of the packet it does say the minimum amount of EBM/formula that it should be mixed into.]]>

I would definitely give it a try first. There was no constipation for us. You can tell if you've accidentally missed a dose, or if she's only had half a dose when someone else has looked after her. She's always been really spilly and that hasn't changed, but at least she's a happy spiller now.</P><P align=left>Our doctors told us to try to start weaning her off to see if her reflux is still there but I'll leave that for when we're both well.</P>]]>

I got prescribed Losec from a GP at City Doctors. We had tried Gav & Ranitidine before hand & I went in to check on ear infections cause he was pulling his ears & he when he heard his story, he said do you want Losec & I was surprised he could prescribe it but said Hell YES. Haven't looked back <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0"> <br /><br />Amber, definitely try Gav first. You may have to give it 6 times a day & as others say it can stop working after a few days so be aware of that. Also if she has reflux it might not be an instant fix as you have to let her throat heal.]]>

Mine is John Geard and hes an excellent GP who will push and stick up for you and your family. He faught for me when I found out about Jareds problems. He has a sense of humour that isn't everyones taste but its similar to mine so he doesn't bother me. Thats if you ever thought of switching GPs in Palmy.]]>

I'm wondering how good my doc is</P><P>(sorry for the threadjack)</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Definately check out the crying over spilt milk website, its got some really good advice</P>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=22806">amber</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 33546<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 21 May 2010 at 10:53am<br /><br />Hi, my first baby is 8 weeks old, in the last couple of weeks she has been getting unsetteled alot during the day, she doesnt sleep well during the day and often cries during feeding latching off and on  even though she is hungry,which is very fustrating. she always wants to sit upright, and sometimes makes a face like she has a bad taste in her mouth, she also always chews like a cow chewing cud, and she spits out curdled milk cud. She doesnt spill up so much since ive started keeping her upright for a while after feeds. The docter gave me some gavisgon but I dont like the idea of giving her that, as it can make them constipated. I'm not actually sure if she has reflux or is just tired and cranky? ]]>
