    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=22450">notenufchaos</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 35698<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 13 September 2010 at 2:05pm<br /><br />Lizzie it sounds like a really rough time i hope things improve soon. <br /> this may not be any use at all but when my first DD was 3 months old she went on antibiotics and a week or so after this stopped sleeping arched her back screaming etc...... and the farting and pooping (constantly) she would also scream in pain while this was going on.  <br /> finally at 6 months (my doctor was useless) i worked out that it was possibly secondary lactose intolerance (thanks MR GOOGLE) in otherwords the antibiotics stripped her stomoach of good bacteria so she could not digest lactose in milk and becuase the more upset she got the more she fed it made the situation worse.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />what worked for us (i didnt want to give up breastfeeding) was routine feeding and block feeding so i was feeding her 3 hourly but only one side. and for the first week would feed the same side for two feeds.  within a few days i had a different baby.  ]]>

When Gabrielle was sick all the time last year she woke screaming 5 - 20 times a night. A sick child needs comforting whether its night time or day time.<br /><br />If he has an ear infection or had been getting one the pressure in his ears may have been causing him to scream. Have you tried cutting out wheat from your diet ? <br />Also things like corn/onions/cabbage/chocolate/caffeine lots of citrus can make bubs windy as well.  If I even have a proper cup of tea instead of decaf Lewies does exactly what your bubs is doing. <br />And I can't eat anything with orange/yellow colouring( cheezels/fanta) as it upsets Lewie. <br /><br /><br />]]>

They would increase the good bacteria in his gut and perhaps that might help with processing the food. Inner health plus make a kids probiotic and I have a feeling that someone mentioned they have a lactose free version if you are worried about dairy.]]>

Every time she had carrot her tummy would make horrible gurgly noises and she would spill heaps or vomit. I had never heard of people having issues with carrot and I still have never read anything but she definately had issues, every single time she had even a small amount. Maybe cut him right back to just pear or apple and formula/BM and see if that helps.]]>

I know what you mean on the "it can't get any worse" - and then it does. <br /><br />I'd hound the doctors for help, can you take a video of him when it happens for them to see? It does sound like an intolerance, but if it's still there when he goes back to just milk maybe it's not. It might just have happened at around the same time - could it be related to crawling/sitting or to the amount or frequency of his breast/bottle feeds? Can you get a good plunket nurse or someone on your side to help you hassle the doctors? <br /><br />Good luck and I hope it gets better soon!]]>

Plunket are only just starting to say that solids are more imprtant at 8mths so I am sure that a purely BF/FF diet for a few days won't hurt. That way you might be able to 'flush' the food out that he is possibly allergic to. Then maybe you could start reintroducing solids again slowly to try and work out what triggers his sore tummy. Maybe start with plain fruit and vege?<br /><br />Whatever you decide to do, good luck!!]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=21740">Lizze</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 35698<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 11 September 2010 at 8:33am<br /><br />Thanks, I think its a sign of a dairy intolerance, which is why I had cut out dairy. <br />Our doctor said allergy tests are unreliable and dairy is too important to stop having (grrr) but the hospital has just referred us back to him for allergy tests so hopefully he will take us seriously once he gets the letter. <br /><br />Reflux has also been suggested but he doesn't have the classic symptoms, and he had no problems (was sleeping through the night for months) before this<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Lizze</span>]]>

We have also spent 1 night in hospital with him for blood in his nappy (suspected intersussception). <br /><br />Any ideas?? I'm at my wits end. We end up co sleeping from about midnight each night otherwise I wouldn't get any sleep. <br /><br />I'm also working 3 days a week and its so hard :(<br /><br />He was waking once or twice a night previous to this but I think that was normal for his age, and I expected it to improve on solids not get worse. Every week I tell myself it can't get any worse - and it does]]>
