You do get some PNs who are glad you do BLW, esp at the 9month check when they say - now is the time to start introducing finger foods - oh we've been doing that since we started!

Lily was the same as Nina, she wanted more meals but wasn't sure what to do with them but she soon clicked.

Also do you eat with baby? So they see you eating? This really encourages my DD, she loses interest if it's just her eating and will often give up after literally 10 minutes but if we all eat together then she eats with us all enthusiastically.

There are heaps of BLWers on here, perhaps adding that to the title or making a new thread could get soem more attention or posting this in the BLW thread, I'm sure the other mums will have plenty of advice!

Hun,

I'm actually glad you've opened a thread about this as I've been considering it for days already. Exact same thing here, BUT nina is even weeks older than tom!!

She gets 3 meals offered a day and she goes mental if we don't offer it, so she wants it but she does not swallow it, IYKWIM?

She plays, she chews, she bites it into a milion bits but she always lets it drop out of her mouth!
We have occasionally a few bits of carrot or sorts in her poos but it's ridiculous.

She is really in the solids routine but she hasn't figured out that she could swallow it, if she swallows it's kind of a mistake.

I'm not sure what to do and I am getting worried but don't want to talk to GP/Plunket as they don't know much about BLW.

thanks guys- yeah he definitely doesn't realise yet that food will help fill him up. The only food he has gotten really excited about this ice cream and it was really cute watching him eat it.

 

i have surprised myself about how unstressed I have been about the whole thing...but still can't help comparing to Ella at the same age and she was eating heaps more (but yeah I know, different babies different styles).

Cameron has only really been interested and eating a lot this week, before now she would taste stuff and smear it around but not really eat.

I think i read somewhere, so could be wrong, that all of a sudden they catch on that food is for when they are hungry and they just start shoveling it down.   This happened with C and i think with Kiara too but you could check with thesaff about that one.

About 7 months DD really ate proper amounts (imo) but she was pretty keen from about 6 months 1 week-6.5 months just ate more at 7 months.

I would keep offering but don't force iygwim. Just give him lots of variety and something is bound to take his fancy! at what age did your baby really become interested in solids? Tom is 7.5 months and is really not interested. We are doing BLW as he refuses to eat from a spoon and gets offered food at least 3x a day- but seriously hardly eats anything.

He is gaining weight nicely so I am not really concerned, but more curious than anything else.
