Kellz, when Briona was young I went shopping with Hannah (19mos) in the trolley and Briona in the front pack. It works really well because you have two hands free and the "rocking" keeps the baby sleeping/happy for longer. Yer my capsule doesnt go in the trolley and neither does the one my friend got from plunket.

Im not one whos keen on putting Ella G in the capsule in the pram but thats coz of her back, i have a back problem and i want to avoid her having the same issues as me. I was only told not to leave them in there by a friend and that was due to their back not blocking their airways. Crazy! Maybe its the way they sit in there i have noticed if i dont buckle Ella in super tight while sitting up she will slide down a bit and look REALLY uncomfortable, maybe thats the bad possie? If they arent put in right its a bad posture for their airways?

oh, with the CPr.. make sure the video's up to date.. the ratios have just changed in the last few months.

I will just have to be more orgainsed and get everything I could possibly need from the supermarket when DH and I go together on Sundays! wow how scasry for your friend. Yep i think i didnmention it a while ago. i way always really aparnoid about that kinda thing, which is why they have that arrow pointing upward on the side of the handle on most capsules, cos that is the angle it needs to be to make sure baby's head is back enough. If baby does fall asleep and you really aren't wanting to get it out when you are visiting.. if it going to be for a short period of time make sure you tilt the capsule back so that baby's chin is clear of it's chest and prop the carseat up with rolled up towel or something to make sure it stays that way.

When i used to go to the supermarket when ayja was little, i used to put her in the front pack because the baby seats are still really upright, and the front pack meant i had free hands still to push the trolley and contend with Paris.

you can also get little snooze pillows that fit under their chin/around their head to help prop up their chinas to stop this sorta thing from happening.. i think most places have them but i know kmart sells them for about $11.

It's scary cos the littler they are the more risk.. when we send premmies home we recommend to parents not to even take them out in their carseat till they are much bigger, but know it's hard being stuck at home all the time too.

I hardly ever go any where with out hubby....and shooping is a family thing for us....Lol. I had heard (I think from antenatal class) that u shouldnt leave bubs in capsule for long,..but the only reason I remember being told was to prevent spine problems. I had been planning to only use the capsule in the car, but since having Isla we usually find it easier to leave her in it when we get to the shops and just connect it to buggy,..instead of taking her out. We will be taking her out and lying her flat in the buggy from now on tho. I would rather have an awake baby,..than have anything happen to her because I left her in the capsule.

When Caitlin was smaller we went shopping with her in the front pack didn't trust the baby seats on the trolley until she was bigger. Our capsule doesn't fit the trollies anyways.

I remember our Antenatal tutor going on about not having bubs in a car seat for any longer than you really have to (i.e. only whilst driving around) due to the position of the airways.

yah I never felt comfortable leaving Zaara in her capsule for long....never left her in her capsule for long!!

I remember when we travelled to wellington, Zaara was 4 months and I kept getting Atish to stop the car so that I can take her out of the capsule and walk around!!

scarey!! My BIL and his newborn little girl are coming for xmas, they were planning on just getting a cheap umbrella stroller to use while they are here (from aus), but i told hem they neede3d something that lay flat cause it can block the airways. I am pretty sure that is something mum2paris mentioned ages ago and I remembered.

Freaky though and how luckyt was she that the police officer was there. The other day my friend took her 5 week old baby girl to the supermarket in her capsule. She sat the capsule on top of the trolley,...and while she was shopping noticed bubs didnt look right. She picked her up and hugged her and she seemed fine. Later when they were at the checkout she started to look horrible again,..then she went to pick her up again and she went blue and floppy. She was unresponsive and an off-duty policeman who was shopping did CPR on her and managed to revive her. She spent a night in hospital,..and they are using an apnea monitor for a month to make sure it doesnt happen again,..but the Dr's think it was cos of the angle the capsule was at in the trolley blocked her airway.
