Topic: A poem Posted: 06 August 2007 at 6:18pm |
In light of the recent child abuse thats been affecting our nation, a poem
He stands in the dark room
He trembles with fear
And whispers to himself "oh please dont let them hear"
He knocked a book over
Hes so clumsy they say
so ugly so stupid, they wish he'd just go away
Too late, his dad enters the room
"what did you do now you idiot?"
His fathers voice booms
"Your so worthless, so stupid such a great waste of space
my life when you werent in it, was a much better place"
he comes towards him, holding his shoe
"how many effing times, do i have to tell you?"
he starts to hit him, first on the face
then the beatings get harder, all over the place
His mother comes in, and just looks on amused
Not caring at all that her son, to whom she gave birth
is being abused.
They hit him and hit him from his head to his toes
Theyre so busy hitting him
they dont even see when he goes
He wakes up
and hes on someone's knee
" its okay my child, your safe here with me
Im your father, lord jesus,i have been since before your birth
and im sorry, so sorry that i sent you to earth
I chose them to be your parents
and trusted them to care
but instead they abused that trust and taught you to fear
I watched you endure more pain than you should
but i let it go on for i thought they would learn to be good."
"But they didnt and so i took you away
to my castle of children, where you will spend the rest of your days
You will be hit now with kisses and smothered with hugs
and you'll forever be surrounded by my
undying love,
Im sorry that they hurt you, and caused you such pain
but they wont hurt you now my son, ever again"
"Theres a lady here , she had a boy but she had to come home too
so she will be your angel mum now,and she already loves you.
Be happy now my child, for all of that pain and strife
is over now my darling,
for the rest of your life.
And back down on earth his parents look on
at his body, but hes already gone
"guess we have to call someone "says his mum
"you know now the police are gonna come"
"stupid child, he was such a waste of space"
but this time the child doesnt here him
Hes now in a much better place

I am impressed by your own words in a poem too.
Maybe you could become an author

That was such an awesome poem. It's so real. Thank you for taking the time to share that with us. I'm in such awe because I can just picture this little boy in fear, cowering in his room, hearing the dreaded footsteps of his father coming towards his bedroom door. Each part of the poem I can see vividly.
I'm gonna copy and save it, if you don't mind. Im gonna put it in my little book of inspiration. Baby Nia has made me realise what my purpose is, and now I'm wanting to study social work next year.
Thank you

Kelly that is a breathtaking poem so haunting. You made me bawl my eyes out, beautiful.
If it's ok with you I have some people I would like to send it on too, I think it's too beautiful to not be shared, but can understand if you don't want to.
You are very talented.

Um so I sit here at working crying ....that is just so beautiful. It seems to be a story ringing true for so many young NZ children.
