Oh yesterday I nearly cried for the Moses guy too... when he was singing I thought surely it must be a piss take, but the look on his face when they were laughing at him... he just looked heartbroken I just wanted to go and give him a big hug.
And Temptress, they were so sweet to her!! Like they were with that lawn mowing guy today (the thumbs up one). Why is it that they can be so lovely to some people and so awful to others???

I have to ask if your kid liked singing but wasn't any good at it, as a parent would you encourage them cause they liked it or discourage and suggest the focus their talents on something else.
Cause some of these kids are awful and seems like no one has ever told them until now.

We're brothers forever !!! haaa haaaa bloody song is stuck in my head !!!
Re: if I'd tell my child they weren't a great singer. Tough question, I'd want them to follow their dream but wouldn't want them to be humiliated. So do you let them do it and let them get rejected and then intervene, or do you save them from the initial rejection ???

"I am your brother! We're best friends for ever..."!!!!!! God that was so hilarious, I think I'm gonna be singing that song to myself for a loooong time to come!!
I would tell them straight, rather than letting them think they could sing when they clearly cannot. It would save them the humiliation later on. I feel so sorry for some of these people - they just look absolutely heartbroken when they are told the truth.

i loved that last dude-with the cape and all that!!! the guy in the belly dancers(??) costume was just plain weird!
i normally watch until they get their top 10 then i switch off.
no i wouldnt go on it. i know i cant sing.
and as for telling my kids they couldnt sing-i really dont know. what if i did tell them and they were like "nah mum i know i can sing" and they went on the show anyway??

If my child asked me I would be honest and tell them . .
My friend and I were going to go on New Zealand Idol for the fun of it because we know we can't sing but we didn't. . My cousin made it through tho

I would tell them that while they were able to sing and have a lovely voice, the idol competitions are for the top of the top singers, and most people can't sing that well.

I would def steer my child in another direction if I didn't think they could sing very well. Oh so definately. Someone needs to be honest with these people!!!

I wouldn't do it because even if I liked singing enough to go far with it, I think I wouldn't want to go that route.
As for kids, I think I'd be like, "well if you really want to then we need to get you as ready as possible" and enrol them in singing school or something. And if they were terrible I'd hope that they got sick of the homework in a hurry or vastly improved with tuition!!

the girl that started crying as she was doing the audition for her mother was so sweet, not that she could sing-but the thought was nice.
