Congrats on your little Kaleb, Faraway. I am sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with the feeding, but at least you have support and keep at it.

Hi all!
Well, I got home yesterday afternoon. Went in to hosp on Sat pm to monitor bubs for 30mins as my waters had broken, but they kept me in and were planning to induce me in the morning, but contractions started overnight, and then our little guy, Anton, was born at 11.06 on Sunday morning!

Glad to be home, although missing that call button at 4am when Anton seems to get lots of wind and wont settle!

Thanks guys!
Yeah, we're doing okay. Still adjusting to it all, and I think we had a growth spurt the other day, which mean a VERY sleep deprived night (even more so than the other nights!). He's feeding fantastically and is already 170g over his birth weight!
I'm healing nicely too (had some nasty tears, and after a reasonably good, drug-free birth, had to go under general to get all fixed up!!).

Wow littlejo, they must have been some major tears! Ouch. I am feeling like I gave birth to a rotating pineapple (to quote my midwife) and only ended up with a few stitches. Although did lose 350ml of blood from them! That sucks that you managed to do it drug free and ended up under a general to be fixed up!
Still I don't know how you feel about it all, but I don't even care when I look at my daughter

Oh, yeah, don't really care at all, he's worth it all. Even the tears and stitches seem like nothing (well, almost nothing...), and it's only been just over a week.

I think my disappointment about having to have the surgery & anaesthetic was more about being away from Anton for 3 hours or so, and missing out on lots of cuddles & our first visitors. And just the irony really of doing it without much pain relief for that to happen!

Ooo, yeah, the loss of blood takes it out of you a bit too, doesn't it?

I didn't realise I had lost much blood until my m/w had to help me shower :) I kept wondering why she was asking if I felt ok and assumed it was because of the epidural.
I missed out on first cuddles too. It was over an hour until I got to actually hold Sam as she was rushed away by the SCBU nurse and then it took over an hour for me to be stiched up. My husband had her though, so that made me feel a little better. Still I am more than making up for it now........"she says as she is sitting in front of the computer with sleeping baby on chest"
