Topic: Any runners? Posted: 29 September 2008 at 12:10pm |
If you run / jog regularly...
1. Do you get more tired during the day or does that stop after a while?
2. Do you find you need to eat more?
I've started going for a jog once or twice a day and I'm loving it but find I'm tired at lunchtime and am starving all day depsite eating good protein etc. I eat a lot at the best of times and now I'm running find it hard to go even 2 hours between small meals!

I find when I run I feel pretty tired for the first week or two but then my body gets used to it and I feel great. I definatly need to eat more too!

I don't run, but I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. And I am always starving, I pretty much eat constantly as my body burns everything super quick. I also eat a meal before the gym and a meal afterwards.
And yes your tiredness should stop as your body adjusts to it, then you wil feel awesome.

I've been popping out for around 30mins in the morning and again the afternoon most days. I will vary that by going to the gym around 3 times a week in place of my afternoon jog.
I know once a day is enough but I feel very motivated at this time of the year so am building my fitness while I can!

I'm impressed!
Sorry - no longer on the original topic. When I was doing regular exercise, I found that at the start, my food and rest needs would go up a lot, but it did settle down - more than what I ate before I started exercising but not huge amounts.

FionaS you pretty much do the same amount and type of exercise that I do. I run 5kms each morning and sometimes do the same at night or I alternate it with a visit to the gym doing weights.
I find that in the afternoons I am starving and that is my bad time as I start to pick!!

As for being tired, I don't generally feel more tired, but my body often feels fatigued, but I like that feeling, means I have worked hard

I'm trying to go for runs but failing dismally at the moment.
I've been absolutely exhausted since starting due to getting up at 6am... but I think that's because the kid has been sick and waking at least once per night. I wonder how the hell I survived when she was little and waking ~3 times?!?!
Apparently it gets better but I'm almost at the point of giving up. ha.

ha. I KNOW!
My flat mate bullied me into it so I've been hauling my sorry ass out of bed at 6am three times a week to run down to the beach and back. It's only about 2.5kms but that's quite enough for me thanks!
I wish I could go at lunchtimes but there isn't anywhere to shower or anything and I look like absolute hell after any sort of physical exertion... but thanks (Really I just don't actually want anyone to actually SEE me running. That's the beauty of 6am )
