Mornings!!

Wow, so much to catch up on!!

Thinking of you for your scan today Tanners!! I can't wait to hear all about it (and remember to take HEAPS of tissues, haha).

Yay for your scan too Farmgirl. At our 13 week scan our little one was sleeping and it took a bit to wake her up but boy was she indignant when woken. Funny! I'm not a huge fan of maternity clothes and live in my gym pants (thank goodness they are stretchy) and singlets at the moment. Fortunately some of my pre-preggy clothes still fit but are pretty darn tight! I hope you find stuff you like.

I can't believe someone baked for your AN class Minxy - what a greaser, lol. Nah, am just jealous! I'm sure you'll meet lots of great people through it.   I'm sorry to hear yours was a bit negative last night Paulab. You may not even need pain relief but at least you now know what's available. As Minxy said it's all about you, DH and your little one - nothing else will matter once you are holding her!! So close now!!! I asked my MW about the cord thingie a couple of weeks ago too Paulab. She said it only takes a few minutes to stop pulsing so if the placenta is delivered medically they can wait until after it stops pulsing before giving the drug. Apparently the only time they don't wait for the cord to stop pulsing is with a c-section delivery. Hope that's right!

Your outside area sounds lovely Jennsta!! What else did your MW tell you to buy?

How's the MS today Nightingale? Pleased Macca's works for you, lol. I had 5 days of BK veggie burgers in Canada and hated eating them but it was the only thing that worked for me at the time, lol. Whatever works I reckon! Am counting down for your scan next week!!

Have you got Leah a paddling pool yet Kazper? Am thinking I might pop up for a dip.      How's the party planning coming along? Your invites look awesome!

Emma is a darling Fordy!! I love seeing the pics and can't wait for more!!! Hope your boobs are settling down a bit.

What is Jumping Beans Gannet? It sounds like fun and am sure Mia loves it!

lol at the tears Shopa - pleased I'm not the only one! I used to get teary seeing other people with babies and dreaming of my own and now I'm teary thinking my dream will finally come true all so soon! Some people are never happy huh!

Hi Snoopy and ABLC! Hope you guys are enjoying the summer sun.

AFM - our building work is well underway and should be mostly finished by the end of next week! Can't wait!! The plasterer is coming on Weds so it's all happening now. I had my MW appmt yesterday and Monkey is still 2/5 engaged. Is it wrong to feel bad that she is stuck upside down?? My MW assured me that she couldn't turn now - has anyone else heard this? She mentioned sending me for a scan at 39 weeks as reassurance that all is on track (paranoid that I am!) Oh yeah, had THE BEST ice cream yesterday at Kaffee Eis (for those Welly ladies). Can totally recommend the passionfruit. On the way back the stoopid bus driver told me that he went along Cuba St in Petone only to discover that nope he went across Cuba. Was not impressed (it's only a short walk but I was being lazy). He had his sunnies held together with blutack so did wonder about him .... hehe

Sorry, another novel! Gotta shut myself up .... Have a great day all!

Hey girls

Just thought Id pop in here quickly and let you all know that we had a 30.4 wk growth scan yesterday and she is definately a baby girl and best of all everything is looking perfect barr one slightly enlarged kidney but our sonographer said that this is the most common thing they see in the 3rd tri and that it usually rights itself, and that it could be sonographer error. But basically they will either scan again later or scan bubba after birth just to check. So we are not too worried about it fingers crossed it rights itself. So we finally feel like its real and we really are gunna have a little miracle in 8-10 weeks I was so excited after that scan couldn't stop grinning, I think I can finally stop worrying about something being wrong lol

Anyway gotta get in the garden before it rains, so will come back tonight and catch up on whats been happening, hope all are well

p.s. I have managed to upload a pic to our fb page for anyone that is interested, we got some good shots of her face.

Hi Appy, great to see ya on here. Fantastic news about the scan. Always a relief to see everything is going well. Yeh the kidney thing is quite common hun. Both Leah's were dilated and came right after the birth.

LOL Karnie no paddling pool yet. Looking at getting one for her Birthday though. Party plans going well. I'm so excited. I have so many ideas. Borrowing a big gazebo and putting up pink ballons around it with white drapy things tied between.

Gee talk about short term memory. Gonna have to go back to see what I have missed lol

Now I think I can remember

Paulab AN classes scared me. I was glad once they were over cause too much talk about the labor did my head in. Just remember its only a small moment in your life and remember what you will get out of it

Exciting about the building work nearing an end Karnie.

Hi ladies,

Hi Minxy, the instructor seemed to be a bit anti medical and I kinda got the feeling it was like, if you have an epidural or medical pain relief it’s very highly likely you will end up getting cut, and having to use forcepts or the vontuse (sp). She said a few other comments that I’m not going to mention as it won’t have any benefits to anyone hearing them and I don’t want to worry anyone. I’m going to head out to the library and grab a book thats more positive and get my nerves back on track, really looking forward to sitting down with a good book

Oh and the boobs in berrys Link
- You will need to contact her via email re the dates

Hi Karnie, thanks so much for asking your MW for me, our AN teacher said the same thing so I’m not sure why my MW said different, will have to talk to her about it again next week. Awesome about the builders!!!! Thats so cool its going to be done soon! WOHOO!! I really like how you have been offered a scan to reassure you, we would love to have another one but have been told we can’t unless something goes wrong..Your bus driver story made me giggle, I have seen people with their glasses held together by ductape but blutack? Hehehe

Hi Appy, YAY!!! And congrats! What wonderful news, I’m so pleased to hear how well she’s doing! Enjoy the weather x

Hi Kazper, the gazebo sounds beautiful, what other plans have you made?? Thanks for your comment, I completely agree, I would go through anything to have a healthy baby, pain, whatever, bring it on

Off for a hot choccy! xxx

Paulab- good on you for being proavtive and researching things for yourself. Often AN give u the tutors opinion on things but Minxy is right, you have to do what you feel is right.

Minxy - My MW says its common for ppl to ask for pain relief in the bearing down stages, she will only administer up until you are about 3cm dilated. She's coming here to do my birth plan in about 2wks time so will be interesting to see how that goes.

Kazper - Good to hear the bday plans are in full swing. I hope we get to see some photos of the bday girl

Karnie - Yay the building is nearly over... lol @ sunnies held together by blutak - that's true kiwi ingenuity!

Appy - Yay the scan went well. I'm sure the next 10 weeks will fly by for you!

Talking of tears I watched Jay Jay and ADom's IVF journey last night on demand as I missed it when it was on TV. Must have played on my mind as last night I dreamed we were doing IVF all over again. Woke up thinking we were having triplets! At least it was a BFP!

Oh and Karnie, my iron levels are not increasing despite being on iron tabs, I can’t increase my dose of ferrous iron any more as it will cause constipation so I now have to take floradix or carbonyl aswell. Also had to get Nettle tea for iron and breastfeeding and 5-W herbs for easing labour. Oh & she told me to stop taking Elevit and start on Blackmores Preg & B/Feeding Gold instead. The local health shop loves me I tell you! I think I am single handedly keeping them in business!

Karnie – sunnies held together with Blutack – brilliant!!!!
I don’t think it’s silly at all that you worry about your little one being upside down now until they are here. I think it’s adorable! Shows how bonded you already feel.
Glad your building work is almost over too. Our plans had to go back for some adjustment so it’s clear we won’t have all done before Wolfie gets here but I am ok about that now. We will work through that :)

Thanks for that info Jennsta. That makes sense to me now. I recall that when I asked for it I would have been in transition stage – right before bearing down. And so (knowing more about labour now) – I can understand why I requested it. I wish I had been more clued up on it all back then. I do recall that I read an amazing positive book called ‘Spiritual Midwifery’ which is all about seeing ‘pain’ as ‘energy’ etc. And although it put me in a very positive frame of mind for the birth (had me looking fwd to it actually – and the amazing experience to come) – I wish I had balanced that with as much info on pain relief and when/how in case I felt that was a path I needed to go down during the birth.
Easier said than done when 20yrs old! Haha.
Paula – great attitude you have. You are remaining positive about the birth , as you should. But you are educating yourself on all your options. That is a fantastic plan and one that will see you make great decisions, with confidence as you labour. Proud of you sweets :)

Paula . Bloody AN teachers annoy me. I know lots of people, including myself, who had an epidural or used gas or pethidine and who did not have to have interventions!!! I admit I did have an episiotomy but only because they lost Mia's HB at one stage (and found it again just after she cut me - typical!) but it healed up just fine - so nothing to do with drugs. You will be fine hun, you find this amazing inner strength when you are going through labour and it helps you get through.

Glad your scan went well Appy, will pop over and have a look at the pics soon!

Thinking of you Tanners - can't wait to hear how your scan goes.

Sounds like Leah's birthday party is going to be awesome Kazper, the gazebo is a great idea.

Karnie, I did wonder about baby being upside for that long too. Glad that your renos will be finished soon.

Jennsta, I bawled my eyes out when I watched JJ and Dom's story. They so deserve to have their own bub and hopefully it will work out for them one day.

Here is a link to Jumping Beans - it's the FAQ page and has a video. It's an activity based program which combines songs, physical activities etc to help develop babies confidence, motor skills etc. It's great fun.

Afm, Mia's renal pediatrician rang yesterday and she is definetely going to have to have surgery and sooner rather than later. She is having a procedure called a cystoscopy, which they do under a general. They will put a camera and a cutting instrument up into her bladder through her ureter and will incise the blockage. That deals with her blockage, but not sure what they are going to do re the extra bit of kidney and ureter. She might need more surgery at a later date. I hate when she has to have her immunizations so how I am going to cope when she has surgery?? At least she won't remember it.

Hi ladies
Couldn't wait to pop on here and let you know the scan was amazing! There was a really strong (and loud) regular heartbeat, we saw the little flutter first before the sonographer zoomed in and turned on the sound.... and yep instant tears it was the most amazing thing DP and I have ever seen in our lives... what a miracle!

Thanks so much for all your support and kind words on here girls..... your all so great!

Nightingale, can't wait for you to experience this... just a week for you to go, how exciting!

Appy2, so wrapped your scan also went so well and you can relax a bit into the final few weeks!

Interesting about the Elevit, although I like it as it has 800ug of Folic Acid and I know alot of the other brands have only 400-500ug and I think this is the main element your body needs most of in the first trimester to help with neural defects.

Well hope everyone else has a fabulous day!

Yikes, this forum is super busy these days - I've quickly glanced at all the posts, but apologies in advance if I miss anything!

Tanners - congrats on your scan, glad you had an amazing time - it's such a special time xx

Gannet, you poor love, sorry to hear that Mia has got to have some surgery - at least she is having it now which means she will have no memory of it when she gets older.  I know it will be hard to see her go through it all, but just keep telling yourself that it's for her long term good health and she will be perfect after all is done  xx

Karnie, hurrah for your renos, in time for your little bean which is just perfect.  We are currently drowning in wallpaper at the mo, as we have been stripping the walls in the spare room and the hallway

Paulab, I love the name of that breastfeeding group   Take it with a pinch of salt what they tell you in your antenatal group, after all, it's your decisions that matter and nobody else can tell you different

Jennsta - big bubba - ouchy!  In fact, they say the bigger babies are easier to give birth to because they have more strength to fight their way out, so you'll be hunkey dorey love

Kazper - your ideas sound great for Leah's b/day party, wish I could come myself

Appy - hurrah for your baby girl, I've also heard that the kidney enlargement is quite common, so she will be just fine xx

I'm sure there is other stuff to comment on but can't remember!

Took ALBC to Wriggle & Rhyme at the library on Wed - she slept all the way through!!  Also, on my Baby and You course which I attended this morning, we were being taught baby massage and the teacher asked for one of our babies to use for the demonstration, I offered ALBC up for the sacrifice!  Oh dear, wish I hadn't, she started off well but by the time the teacher got to her arms she was screaming and had big tears running down her face - oops!  She just does not like being massaged the poor love

Sorry for chapter and verse ladies

Tanners!!!!! AWESOME NEWS! Have been waiting all day for your post. So happy for you :) :) :)

Gannett – you summed it up best when you said “she wont remember any of it”. Focus on that to get you through – and that you are doing the right thing. Thinking of you. x

Snoopy - I giggled out loud at the image of ALBC giving her lungs a working during her massage. Good for her – she knows what she likes and doesn’t!

Hi Ladies

The Boobs in berries sounds great. When I'm in Wellington I might try to go to it...but only 23 weeks, is that too early?

Went for a massage today as back was really sore and ended up nearly fainting and vomiting. Masseuse wasn't too impressed I don't think. Now feel very odd. Maybe too much pressure on the tummy (no table with the hole in the middle). Any suggestions here?

WOOHOO TANNERS! I've been waiting all day to hear how you go! I'm soooo nervous for mine on Thursday, it's so scary! So happy for you!

Got my latest BT back and at 6w4d it's now 47,662 (up from 12,654 last Friday) and they said no more BT's! They are very happy with that so that's it for me now. Scan on Thursday and then I'm on my own! Eek! Is that beta ok?

Oh Gannet am really sorry to hear that Mia needs to have surgery. At least you can be 100% confident that she is in great hands and won't remember a thing. Am thinking of you.

Wahoo Tanners!!!! So pleased you had a great scan. Makes it more real huh.

I have no idea of beta numbers sorry Nightingale but if FA are releasing you then it must be good! Looking forward to your scan too.

Your massage doesn't sound so good Sarah - have you called your MW at all for some reassurance? Was it hot in the room at all? I've always been told to drink heaps after a massage - could you be dehydrated perhaps? When are you in Welly? I've heard good things about Boobs in the Berries too and Mamilicious is meant to be really good (our AN teacher is one of the ladies who runs it).

Yay for your scan too Appy!! Must check out your photo in a tic.

Wow, you are taking quite a cocktail Jennsta - no wonder the health shop loves you! Bet they start rubbing their hands together when they see you coming, lol.

So funny that ALBC is not keen on being sacrificed Snoopy! Sorry, can't stop giggling at the image (and the sacrificing part).

The gazebo sounds fab Kazper - so looking forward to pics!

We have the most gorgeously hot day today and still people are in long sleeves and long pants - mad, I tell ya! The builders left at 4pm so I'm very excited to be able to peg washing outside before the sun disappears! Tis just the small things, lol.

Paulab - good on you for doing research for yourself. Your AN lady probably has to give statistics etc, just a shame it was so negative though. Also just remember that at the end of the day, no one gets an award for not having pain relief either, so don't guilt trip yourself.

Jennsta - I watched that JJ and Dom IVF journey ondemand after it aired. Very sad to watch aye. I really hope they have their dream come true.

Gannet love sorry to hear wee Mia has to have surgery - possibly two. Your right, she won't remember which is great.

Tanners - YAY awesome news on the scan. So happy for you love. You can relax a little bit more now and start to enjoy your pregnancy.

Snoopy - lol about the massage. Oh dear. I bet the lady giving the massage felt terrible to. She would have been hoping for the relaxed affect tehe

Sarah great to see you. OMG can't believe you are over half way already. It felt like only a few weeks ago you were posting news of your bfp in here.
Hope your feeling better now after that massage. I've heard that there are massages you can get specifically for pregnant women. May be there is somone in your area that can do one.

Nightingale, great news on hcg levels.

Will def post some pics on fb of Leah's birthday party when it happens. Still a few weeks away. Was wondering if I should bake all the cupcakes soon and put them in the freezer to save the work later on. Anyone know if cupcakes freeze?

Sorry for novel. Wanted to try harder to comment on everyones posts this time.

Thanks for the info Minxy, my sister is reading a similar book at the moment called ‘stand and deliver’ I think I will read it after her.

Gannet – that must be really hard to know your little girl is going to be subjected to that sort of treatment. I like that you have such a great attitude about it all.

Tanners – that is fantastic news about your scan. So emotional seeing that little heart beating away isn’t it. You will be surprised by what you can see at the 12wk scan in comparison, hard to believe how much they grow in four weeks. Make sure you get a photo or a DVD of the next one if you can. I compared the Elevit and Blackmores ingred and it seems Elevit has far more of everything so now I’m confused. Although Elevit doesn’t have fish oil or iodine so I wonder if that’s why my MW prefers it.

Snoopy – thanks for the reassurance. My MW told me the same thing about size, she also said her easiest birth was her largest bub. I am not to worried at this stage and I just keep telling myself he is long and slim. Sounds like you are having a great time taking ALBC out and about. Has she started the chatty goo and gaa stage yet? So adorable when they chat away to themselves.

Sarah – hope you are feeling better now, it could well have been the massage. I can’t handle any pressure on my stomach. As Kazper said it might pay to find somewhere that caters more for pg woman.

Nightingale – those results look fantastic hun. I look forward to hearing how the scan goes.

Karnie – how are you feeling? Only just over a month for you to go, do you have pressure when you walk or anything as yet?

Kazper – I am sure the cupcakes will freeze fine, then you can just pull them out the day before and ice them. Looking forward to photo’s soon. My friends bub is turning 1 on 18th Dec and she is having a teddy bears picnic theme. Not sure I will make it tho as it’s the day before my due date!

Hi Jennsta. I have heard the same thing about big babies being easier to deliver. That's cool and your right, could very well be just really long and slim which fits in with ivf statistics anyway.

Freezing cupcakes it is Oh a teddy bears picnic. How adorable. So many cool things you can do. I'm so excited.

Morning ladies!

Thank you all so much for your kind words about how I was feeling after the AN class, I honestly don’t know what I would do without you all ** hugs** , the book I was talking about is by Ina May Gaskin, its called a guide to childbirth, am heading out to see if I can get it today some time, really looking forward to it.

Wow Jennsta, sounds like you would definitely be a favourite t the health stores! Do you think they are helping?? I might have a nosey at the health shop this afternoon, oh and thanks for the link too!

Hi Gannet, I’m so sorry to hear little Mia has to go through the surgery, but you are totally right, she isn’t going to remember and it is going to help her hugely in the future, sending you big hugs and lots of positive energy.

Tanners it was so awesome to see your post!! WOHOO!!!!! When is your next scan?? I bet you cant wait!! Isn’t it the most amazing feeling!

Hi Snoopy, go Annabelle, sounds like she wasn’t too impressed with the massage techniques, hehehe

Hi Sarahd, one of the ladies in our AN class went and I think she is around the 20week mark too, never too early to learn, that massage sounds horrible, was it a pregnancy massage?? Usually they put you on your side and surround you in pillows and its quite comfy, hope you are feeling better now hun...oh and make sure you are drinking lots afterward.

Hi Nightingale, sooo pleased to hear your BT went well, sounds like bubs is doing really well!!

Hi Kazper, Leah’s party is going to be so cool! I cant wait to see pics! Not sure about the cupcakes, maybe have a look on google?? There may be recipes on there for freezable cupcakes??

Hi Karnie, how are the raspberry lamingtons going??? Did you manage to get any without the chocolates ones in the pack too?? Mmmmm fresh lamingtons sound good......

Hi Minxy *waves* Hope little Wolfie is treating you well xxx

AFM, had another painful evening last night so have been trying to rest up today, thankfully the weather has turned cold and wet so I don’t feel bad about not getting out to mow the lawns or tidy up outside! Hope you all have a nice weekend xxxx
