Topic: Best HPT? Posted: 05 May 2008 at 12:50pm |
Had a bit of an "oopsy" about 8 days ago (condom not put on properly in heat of moment), and now have a sinking feeling that might be pregnant. It just so happened that it was a day or two before ovulation that it happened, and I MEANT to get the ECP but forgot.
I've got sore boobs, and have been nauseous constantly since Friday. Actually threw up yesterday, and it is incredibly reminiscient of when I was pregnant with Joshua.
Did a test last night and it was negative - but Char (thanks Char!) reckons too early to test and to try again in a couple of days.
So what is the best HPT on the market? And by best I mean earliest testing time, and most accurate?
TIA for your help!

I found that HPT were all negative each time I needed them - I suggest waiting till next MP and getting a blood test. Its a lot more accurate.

MDS quickcards, at the moment 3 for price of 2 at new world (that's threee tests in one pack). This time I got a pos at 11 dpo and in Feb I got a pos at 9dpo, pack says you can test 7-10 days after ovulations. It picks up hcg levels of just 25. The quickcards are what the doctors use in Christchurch.
Goodluck (whichever way you want it to go)

Good luck Claire! The First Response midstream and the Quickcards worked best here.

I'm doing ok actually. Just pretending that nothing is up until next week when I can find out for sure.
It's hard though! Even though its totally unplanned, and would be so the wrong time for us just now, I'm finding myself running through lists of names in my head
Oh, and browsing the new baby stuff sites that weren't around when I was preg with Joshie

Just a bit of an update....
Got a BFP on Friday which was two days before AF was due. Actually did about 8 tests since last week lol, couldn't help myself!
But, yesterday morning, started bleeding, and now am having what is just a slightly heavier than usual AF.
So, my instincts were totally right, but if I'd not tested so early I'd have been none the wiser.
In cases such as these, I think ignorance might just be bliss.
Feeling a bit sad, but really it is the best thing for us right now.
