Topic: Blimmin Bruisin Posted: 15 January 2009 at 8:05pm |
I have no idea where to put this - its not exactly the most beautiful of topics
But, today I was puttin on my bikini, just checking out my backside when I noticed a great big fat BRUISE
I am pretty sure it came from the iron injection I had to have when pregnant with Maddi (10 months ago!!) Just wondering if anyone else had the jab and if they noticed any bruising? And if so how long did it take to go away?
It doesnt really hurt, its just ugly I have so many bruises at the moment, I feel like a little kid. Maybe there's something wrong with me? Maybe I just need to go buy some shorts to wear before I go swimming in public.

I think liver problems can cause strange bruising, I doubt you'd have anything wrong with you.
Have you always been prone to bruising? I am covered in bruises, always! Its just my skin type I think. Ive got really bad circulation too.

I havent always been prone to bruising, I think that just comes from chasing after the girls in a tiny house
I have noticed after any sort of jab I get a bit of bruising but I have never had it last 10 months before. And they've never been so big and dark.

Iron injections often make it look like a bruise around the injection site - it's more like a staining from the iron, so I think you're spot on that that's what it's from Sorry don't know when it will disappear though! Sounds like it's been there for a while!

I've started getting iron injections and the nurse told me whilst doing the first one that the iron can stain around where it's been put in, and that I shouldn't rub the area site. I sounds like you may have a bit of staining from the injection but I'm pretty sure it will go away.

I bruise badly too and often get massive bruises without even realising I'd knocked myself. I have Von Willebrands Factor which basically means my blood doesn't clot like normal peoples. It's not an issue unless I get into and accident or have a medical procedure done (or bleed during/after labour ). I'd go to the docs and discuss it because if you do have liver or bleeding issues it's best to know, in many cases they can do something about it.

Are you breastfeeding? I have found I bruise way worse when breastfeeding. Don't know why just something I've noticed.
