now-a-days midwives are meant to routinly ask if u want the test done but i said no when my m/w asked.

I was reading somewhere very recently that HIV testing is now compulsory amongst 'at-risk' groups (ie. some new immigrants from high risk countries, people with uncertain sexual histories etc.) but many LMC's test every patient for it now to avoid being accused of discrimination.
