Ispycharlie - Dh has been looking up Maori names, but I haven't heard any I'd like to have. He would have a maori name for sure. The boys have maori middle names, Rico has Mikaere Kiriwai (DH's family names), and Jett has Te Akau (random name we liked). I'm happy to have a maori middle name, but not for a first.

I was thinking that a Maori name would stick out too much from your other kids names, and then you'd get people asking why you only used a Maori name for bub number 4 etc. Good luck, it is a tough job naming another human being eh lol!

I think you should go with Luca! It goes perfectly with the other names! I'd be really really really stubborn about it and maybe your DH will come around eventually.

haha Renee - I'm trying to be stubborn!!! I've been suggesting it since baby #2! But since Dh had a falling out with his mate Luke last year, he's even more against his child having a name sounding so close.

I tell Dh that EVERYONE loves Luca, but that doesn't budge him. I try to be stubborn, but my Dh is even more than me. And I sort of know where he's coming from, cos there is no way I'd budge on some of his favourite names.

ohhh Kelly, I tried that one after having Jett. We were arguing the moment after I had him about his middle names. I *thought* he'd agreed to have my brother's name Ryan as his middle name . But once we got talking, he says he never wanted it and only wanted Te Akau. I was livid! But I stood my ground, but had to compromise. Instead of Jett Ryan Te Akau - Dh got his way of Jett Te Akau Ryan. But I was gobsmacked at how determined he is, after just seeing me give birth to our 3rd child. Grrrrr

haha, so many of these names I like - but know people with them! Brooklyn, my niece. Cohen a friend's boy. I liked Makaia when pg with Gia, but now can't have it with my niece being Kaia. Dh liked Dante (I don't). I quite like Ciro/Cairo but don't know if I like it enough to have it. And a little too close to Kaia, got the KAI sound at the start. Like Ryder and Levi - Dh doesn't. Like Taj, but Dh's "friend" Luke has a cat named that. Have a friend called Isaac (he is my ex as well). Quite like Leo, but my best friend liked that for her last boy, and I think if I used it she might get the snots with me. Oh kaiz I still couldn't use Lucas - still got the sound "luke" in it.
So many names have connections with other people, so we can't use them. 99% of my friends/aquintances have boys too.
THANKS SO MUCH for all these suggestions though girls! Keep them coming!
And Kaiz - would love to see that book. I'll pay for postage.
Soo true Kelly! I think my Dh would make a good lawyer - he can talk his way into/out of anything!! Makes it hard for me to win. But I am getting smarter and can catch him out sometimes .

I was just thinking Kellz, that this thread will help any of the other preggie mums wondering about boys name - cos there seems to be few that are stuck too!
Sorry girls, but I'm not a fan of Elliot.
I could try Cruz with Dh, but am 99% sure he wouldn't go for it.
Lol kiwisj, about your dh being a federer supporter, so couldn't have rafael! Rafael is much cuter .

Argh I know what you mean about all your friends/acquaitances/relatives having boys! Between DH and I we have something like 30 boy cousins or nephews All with fairly traditional names .... which made it pretty hard for us to choose traditional names! Oh well.

I wouldnt worry too much about other people having similar names. A good friend of mine just had her second baby and called him James. I dont mind a bit as I think its a lovely name. We had 2 Lucases in our coffee group and if Tom had been a girl we would have had 2 Isobels.
