My nipples didn't fit in them either but when bubs sucked it would kinda suck them in. I found when I put them on if a left it a few seconds before feeding bubs milk would already start flowing so bubs didn't have to suck as hard to get it going. Its funny about the blocked duct thing cos I used them for every feed for a few weeks with Jack and never got a blocked duct or any problems and have never used them with Caprece and have had blocked ducts and thrush.

I tried to use breastshields but he just wouldn't latch with them. I later saw some avent ones that still allow skin to skin, think they might have worked better. I also wondered about the nipple thing cos mine certainly didn't fill them up

Just be aware that when you use nipple shields it can effec your supply as the stimulation isn't as strong. Usually midwives tell you to make sure you express after every feed or at least most of them in order to maintain supply. It doesn't effect everyone, but itis very common.

good luck - it truely does get better eventually.

Hey Cmaine, after reading all these positive threads, all I can add is, if you still want a breastpump - its a manual one though, I have an unused one lying around somewhere, you are more than welcome to have it.  Let me know!!!
