well it seems that i have a strep infection in my section wound (im now 4 wks post op), and they took the swab last week, and ive only just been given antibotics for it...

my question really is, that in the last couple of days my boobs and become really sore (achy), no hot spots or lumps but they are so so so sore, so is it because of the strep infection or just my milk coming in more (not that baby is feeding any longer or anything), if anything he has started fussing at the breast and doesnt actually want to drink from me

oops just editing to add that its a staph infection not a strep infection

was done at wellington hospital, there was nothing wrong with my csection until about 1.5 wks ago when it got hot and sore, and then i small hole appeared about a week ago, and its been weeping since, the midwife took a swap a week ago and just told me to keep it clean with saline solution and keep a pad over it.

didnt get a script for the antibotics until today so have only just started taking them.

Hi Kaz, I had infections with all three sections - varying degrees the worst of which landed me back in hosp for a week on iv antibiotics.  The other times was more aware of what to look for and keep an eye on etc so was onto ab's very quick which I found did help but sometimes they can taint the taste of bmilk which may be why Cory is fussing or also could be if your supply has increased he may just be having trouble getting used to the "rate of flow" if there is more pressure you could try lying back or down to see if the reduction of gravity helps.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

hey guys, the antibotics seem to be working, but going to go see my doctor tomorrow just to make sure...the wound has stopped weeping as such (after 9 days) but isnt closing over, if anything its getting bigger.

Cory has settled down not fussing anymore, and thankfully the antibotics dont seem to have affected him much

The wound may not properly close for a wee while or it may close and then re-open cause it will need to get any pockets of infection out, glad things seem to be on the mend

I know how you feel, I had a strep infection in my c-section scar which took till 12 weeks PP to fully heal and clear. I was on ABs, and I also had to make sure that I kept it clean by changing the dressing daily and also flushing it with saline solution.

I only found it started clearing when I started taking arnica to speed up healing, so perhaps try that.

With the fussing at the breast, it will be a combinations of milk tasting slightly differently and also overactive letdown. The letdown will settle in a couple of weeks when your supply starts to stabilise.
