Does anyone else get mould on their ceiling in their bathroom?

We have tried killing it with moss and mould killer (which is basically bleach) and it still grows back. It's really annoying because we have an extractor fan and the window has a security thinger on it so the window is left open 24/7 so that it is aired out constantly yet every 6 months we need to kill the mould again.

Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get rid of it for good?

No ideas on how to get rid of it for good, sorry! I have to clean ours with bleach every 6 months or so too, despite constantly airing it and having the window open while we shower.

Have you tried a dehumidifier (Sp??). We lived in the dampest most horrible house last year for 6 month - probably the coldest street in Dunedin, and mold just grew everywhere - ewwwww, so we invested in a dehumidifier and it was just amazing how much moisture it took out of the air (I am talking LITRES a day - from our room alone). Am pretty sure it was solving our mould issue - although we did move out shortly after, so didn't really get to prove it.
ETA- Found its also heaps easier to heat an area if the air is dryer.

We don't own a dehumidifier and I can't justify spending that kind of money on something at the moment. The rest of the house is fine, there's no mould in sight and the towels dry very fast in the bathroom so I don't think it's damp otherwise they would always stay a bit wet.

Is the ceiling textured at all? Like even slightly? i fing that even the slightest texture ont he ceiling seems to encourage mould growth and you can't get rid of it completely -if you think you have, then it will grow back like you say!

We are jsut waiting till we can replace the ceiling in our bathroom, its a pretty big and annoying job though so will be well after baby (and probably after I return to work!)

I lived in a flat in my student days that was like that, except on EVERY ceiling. Aparently we had ivy growing in the roof space and that was causing moreproblems than moisture inside the house.

we had that problem in our bathroom in motueka and when i was pregnant had no energy to get up and clean it so it got horrible, it was also shagpile carpeted why they did that i wouldnt know lol, we found it was more the fact that the bathroom was on the coldest side of the house so got next to no sun, this house is the same and i have the window open and dehum going all teh time and it gets mould in it.
im not sure if theres anythign oyu cna really do if you have an extracter fan in your bathroom and air it out then it could be something to do with the paint or timber? maybe need to give the bathroom ceiling a fresh coat of bathroom ceiling paint (any nromal paint will just crack and/ or let moisture in).
exit mould isnt the nicest smell is it, my MIL cleaned our bathroom with it cause she knew it was really getting to me and when i bought haleigh home from the hospital was greeted to a week of smelly the horrid stuff.

The only thing I can suggest is sand it back, treat with mould killer, and repaint with mould shield paint. We had to do this in our bathroom and 12 months down the track it's still mould free :)

Yeah the ceiling is insulated, its got that insul-fluff stuff all through the ceiling.

I think we are gonna have to just sand it back like ya say and repaint which is a pain in the ass but probably the only option *pouts*
