Has anyone ever done this?

Miss 20 month old is making me so stressed out, I am at my wits end on what to do, so I have put her back into her cot. Night sleeps are a breeze but the day ones are the worst and I spend up to 1.5 hours telling her to get back into bed and removing all the items that she has pulled out of the drawers.

Arrrggghhhhhh

Lucy was such a dream at being in her big bed! I am not liking parenting very much at the moment

I wouldn't think it's too much of a problem putting her back in the cot, she's pretty young to be out of it anyway.

Or alternatively you could do what we did with the gremlins (who had to be in beds as they could climb out of their cots) - take everything except the bed out of her room. We stripped their rooms completely - no bedside tables, drawers, bookshelf etc., we even locked the wardrobe door so they couldn't get in there. With no distractions, getting out of bed became a lot less interesting.

Thanks for the tips Emma!

Would it be a bad thing if we did the night sleeps in the bed and day sleeps in the cot?

I don't think so, I reckon you just have to do what works! Maybe make a 'deal' with her - when you are ready to be a big girl and sleep all night in your bed, then you can go in the bed at night instead of the cot.

We do what emma did. Daniels room has nothing interesting in it. For day sleeps I shut the door and leave him to it. There is his cot mattress on the floor under his bed so he can pull that out if he really wants to. I just go in and check on him every 20 mins or so to make sure he hasn't poo'ed and if he hasn't I walk straight back out. I think getting in and out is just a game so I don't play. Sometimes hes fallen asleep on the floor but he doesn't care

Is there anything else she uses as a sleep cue? I found out today that Spencer will definitely sleep once in his sleeping bag, otherwise he just goes on a trashing expedition. Doesn't come out of his room though, so I suppose that is a bonus.

We are going through the same thing. The result has been the side goes back on the cot till he falls asleep and then we take it off. I HATE IT!!! IT is so hard when you are exhausted and trying to feed a very distractable baby.

I'm just hoping it wont last. I'd happily keep tom in his cot except he has it in his mind that he wants a "big boys bed". We have a real bed arriving on Friday It wont have sides to put back on.

I so know what you are going through. HUGS!!!

Strap her in and pin her down No seriously, we used the safety sleep then when that didn't work (was fine and was weaning off it but DH came home after a few months away so bed was not where Jack wanted to be) we put a pin in the safety sleep so he can't get out of it. This was AFTER a massive trashing expedition that led to a hole in the wall

I was told by mum and grandma once you've made the move, don't go back, but if it works and you can't deal with the constant up and downs, I would try it.

We did the same as Emma and Emz.

There is nothing exciting at all in Mac's room. All his toys, clothes etc are in his wardrobe that he can't get into. I do leave him a couple of books though.

We used the safety sleep for the first week of day sleeps and then he figured out how to undone it but by that point he had got use to being in bed.

We put him to bed, read a story or two, then shut the door and leave him to it. Usually I go in about 20 mins later and he is sound asleep back in his bed.

I personally think doing daysleeps in one bed and nights in another is confusing for the child and won't help in getting her to stay in bed which is the issue but that is just me!

I agree with Peanut & think that it could be confusing for them to be in cot for day sleeps but the bed at night. I suspect we just have to ride this phase out & hope that it doesn't take too long for them to get used to being in bed & realise that getting up is not that interesting...

I have had the hugest battle with Liam today & he was in his room for 2.5 hours & didn't sleep at all. Up until today I was using the safety sleep for day sleeps but it seems he can squirm out of it no matter how tightly I pin it (with 3 pins) . I thought I'd taken everything interesting out of his room but he had taken pictures off the wall & smeared nappy cream on the floor

I am like Stacey & don't go in to put him back to bed constantly. He gets out of bed before I've even left the room & currently I just don't have the patience to deal with it.

He will be in bed early tonight though & tomorrow he will be daycare's "problem"
