niquey: I had a bad cold last week and took coldral, worked a charm but it did lower my milk supply. It's getting better now though. And best thing is all Cameron got was a runny nose! The rest of us have horrible coughs. Breasktmilk is awesome.

Because of my lower milk supply I decided to try again with some formula today at lunchtime as Cameron was very hungry but I didn't have any milk left at that time. He hasn't taken formula for ages which has been a bit of a mish as I keep having to cluster feed, but its all good. Anyway I called my husband (he works from home so I didn't have to shout too loud lol) and asked him to try. Cameron drank the whole lot! So it must be that he just won't let me feed him the bottle. Looking at me like "mummy what the possett, why are you giving me this bottle when you have milk already??"v

Wow, Noah must have levelled out, some of the bubs are overtaking him. To be fair he's had feeding issues the last few weeks so has maybe lost some weight or at least not gained much.

I have to say, I love love love neocate. My boy is actually feeding properly for the first time in months. It's so funny how mummy intuition can be right sometimes. I told my GP I thought it was milk intolerance, told the 1st specialist that too, no one listened, now finally I found someone who did. It's early days but he's so much better. Together with his solids he hasn't spilled at all today, I can't remember a day where he hasn't spilled at least 10 times. I spend so much time using carpet cleaner to remove spew stains lol.

Loving my little man so much at the moment he just lights up my world

 LittleN yay for Mummy intuition

aww i wanna add to the 3month old bubba list too! But Maddy isnt 3 months old yet haha. but isnt it amazing how they have pretty much doubled in weight since they were born for a lot of our bubbas! 5th april is our plunket date so looking forward to seeing what happens then! id say she will be one of the taller bubs anyways..its been so amazing watching Maddy learn about her world- even as a preschool teacher its amazing me every day how she just suddenly clicks to something and figures out so much all on her own.. today I noticed that whenever i got her out of her carseat she had grabbed hold of her toy that is hanging from the handle, thought hmmm never seen her grab anything (purposefully) before..then tonight I watched for a good half hour as she lay under her playgym, and kept grabbing one of her toys thats hanging off it, pulling it close to her face and really inspecting it! then shed try to pull it to her mouth but its not on a long enough string so she lets it go then grabs it again and starts exploring it again! so amazing i was just mesmerised by my little girl hehe  i know its just a silly little thing, but its so cool i feel very blessed to be able to be at home seeing her learn all these things- makes the money situation pale in comparison

tonight is night 1 without hubby- will be an interesting 2 weeks without him.. in a way i have to admit its kinda nice to not have to worry about cooking tea, less washing to do etc, so will try to enjoy the peace and quiet.. i do miss him already tho!

Just updated Zac - although it is his 5 mth figures, eekk!! Freaky he is 5 months already    Heavier than most but a total shortass lol! PN said she sees that alot with low birth weight babies but that he should have a big length growth spurt and catch up. Currently just over 50% for weight but following the 0.4% for length

Everything is going ok here. Zac is having what I think is a relux relapse so i'm hoping it doesn't last very long as it's quite tiring. He isn't tooo grumpy, just pretty much refusing his bottle, pushing it away, arching and squirming etc. So it's a constant fight every time with having to hold his hands down or I can't keep the teat in his mouth. He still isn't rolling but tries quite hard. And if he is in the right position, can sit unaided for 10 seconds or so. Lots of personality at this age huh    Oh and he has been sleeping through for a few months now but the last couple of weeks seems to think 5.15am is wake up time. I'm not liking that at all, it is such a horrible time when you have more that one child as it's not really worth going back to bed. I sometimes bring him into our bed and try and get him back to sleep for an hour or so but he's such a wriggle bum and most of the time won't sleep so I get annoyed and just get up anyway lol! And he still fusses with his bottle so I don't think it is hunger waking him.

LittleN, awesome that the neocate is working! And yay for no spilling

Oops, DD is wanting me, better go.

Hey Ecomummy, did you have your appt with the plastic surgeon? How did you get on?

hey KH! nice to hear from you! we went to the plastic surgery team yesterday and they did an assessment, took a bunch of 'before' photos and it looks like she will get her operation sometime in the next couple of months - SCARY! but it will be worth it in the end and its not a particulary difficult operation and it heals really quickly. bummer is that she will have arm splints until its healed so she doesnt boof herself in the face. at lest its only an overnight (and I get to stay with her) at the hospital and about a week with stitches.

meanwhile she has given me her cough :( and she nearly jumps out of her skin when I cough - you should see her face when I cough while she is feeding - its priceless.

boo for wet weather. we are supposed to be going to a dress up party tonight (sports theme - groan) I have borrowed a red socks onesie for lili and a scotland rugby uniform for me. but with this weather Im not sure I want to be driving out to stillwater with both of us a bit coughy......see how we feel tonight.

Eco - glad the appointment went well

Soda - we normally meet on a Thursday morning ... does that work for your visit? And are you moving to Auckland next year? Also - we had the same thing with the bottle, although we've given it up because we can't do it regularly because of my DH's rubbish hours. We're just going to try the sippy cup when she's about 6 months and skip the bottle stage. Cross fingers.

LittleN - you know your bubs better than anyone

Thanks for the bag idea for the fruit/vege - I had seen them but I was wondering if anyone else had been given this suggestion by their PN? She is getting more intersted in food and it wouldn't be replacing her BF - just getting her used to other tastes and textures.

Minki and Niquey - hope to see you guys at the next meet up - haven't seen you for ages!

milo - is the leapfrog dog the scout puppy one that you can plug into the computer and download stuff - we got one for Lili and she LOVES it. we love the way we can set bedtime music for 2, 5 or 10 minutes and she seems to like the song that spells out her name. yay for you getting it on flybuys, I only just got a card, I think I have about 20 points, hehe cant buy much with that!

with the solids stuff I have been making extra veges and pureeing them, freezing them in ice cube trays and them popping them in zip lock bags in the freezer. I just make extra of whatever veges we are having. we go to a starting solids group thingy on the 18th of april with the karitane nurse, I will be waiting til after that before trying anything.

I'd love to come to a meetup again too! Only thing is I've started going to a playgroup held at our local church on Thursday mornings, and its a really fantastic playgroup, lots to do, lots of kids and am meeting heaps of mums in my area too (we've only lived in the area 6 months and I know no one which sux). I could change days but I'd go on a waiting list and its a different day different people. If we do a meetup in the afternoon I could prolly come. I'd like to host a meetup at my house too but am still struggling to manage household chores with the babies so my house is constantly a mess. Will look into that within the next few months.

I love watching the personality emerging! Cameron has this thing where when he wants something he gives a few grizzles, then suddenly erupts into this huge squeal or cry, its really loud! Unfortunately for him, being baby #2 I can't always attend to him straight away so he gets left alone every once in a while and boy he hates it. What can ya do!

My lovely husband took command of the "kids" last night and let me sleep in the spare room. Poor bugger didn't get any sleep at all, Cameron was waking almost every hour. Does my head in how to settle him back to sleep. He does better during the day. They say routine would help, but we've been struggling with that for months.

Ahhh mummy-hood!

omg solids! its all going too fast! haha. e have about 5 really bug pumpkins growing in our garden at the mo, along with cauli, broccolli and spinach.. so the plan is to pick them when they are ripe, and mash  them up seperately and freeze in ice cube trays so i can mix and match the different veg for each meal. will get some fruit and do the same with that too. i personally really dont like the tinned stuff- the fruit ones arent too bad, but when i was at work and preggers the smell of some of the tinned baby food there was the one and only thing that made me want to vomit- bummer it was my job to be around the smell of baby food 40 hours a week ay! haha. plus knowing we grew the majority of Maddys food organically makes me feel good

hmm i have one of those mesh bag thingys- good idea using it before you start solids to get used to flavours etc- hadnt thought of that! they are really good for teething too- just freeze a few grapes, a piece of apple, carrot, anything really, and put it in the bag- they can use it as a teething ring and suck the juice out the food but not choke on it- might be good if bubs doesnt like regular teething rings..

EM yea its that one, i ordered it last night, a friend of mine showed me it in farmers so when i saw it on flybys i got it! ive got a wish list of toys for Seth. I figured ill just go along with what he can use now rather than have it sitting in storage for ages.

We started solids and Seth LOVES it hahahaha was good timing as he takes the food well and the only time theres food out of the mouth is when he grabs the spoon cause im not giving it to him fast enough lol.

ha ha Milo - that is SUCH a boy thing. They start now and they NEVER stop. Just wait till he's a teenager! I've got a friend who is going to have four teenage boys all at the same time - I pity her shopping bill in about 4 years, eeeeeek! I'm scared now of how big our bill will be with two boys eating all the time. Suffice to say there will be no packaged foods in this house, weetibx, baked tatoes and baked beans a plenty!

Minkiwings - I just want to offer you some encouragement and hugs. It is tough being a mummy of two, it's just go go go all the time ay. Hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself. Our house is often a tip, I just shunt EVERYTHING into our room and close the door when people come round. We've just had my dad and partner and brother and his family down for a few days (they aren't staying with us) and you can barely get into our room there is so much stuff in there. It is a hideous mess. But it was more important for us all to enjoy time together than worry about how the house looks. I hope you can find a nice time to sit down and have a cup of tea (or something stronger) and just say "bugger the house work" for five minutes.
((((((((((hugs)))))))))

Thank you weeheebaby! I needed to hear that. I think I am putting too much pressure on myself, but I always have.
Thankfully I no longer have the horrible back pain I've been suffering from for the last 6 months and can now play with my daughter, I feel so much happier. I can even do some housework in 10 minutes flat! Feels so good, its onwards and upwards! Just sux it took so long for my body to get back to normal. Will check in on the FB page to see where where up to.

Yeah I find aside from the fact pureeing your own veges tastes a lot nicer, it works out to be so much cheaper too. This week I spent less than $5 on some carrots and kumara and pureed them all up and put them into small containers to freeze- one small container of say kumara will be his lunch and dinner for the day, and doing this I get enough food for a week at least. Last week I did pumpkin and kumara. The jars cost like $1.50 for one as a comparison. I am still buying jars of pureed pear for fruit but only because I haven't got around to pureeing fruit yet but I get the simply organic one and it seems pretty nice.

A tip I got told was to puree the veges with the water you boil/steam them in so the nutrients they lose get put back. Works well for me. Im jealous cos Noah gets kumara and pumpkin but DH doesn't like them so I have to cook them separately for myself if I want them and can't be bothered making separate things for dinner sometimes.

Well my little man has got a tooth coming through can you believe that. Solids and teeth, where are our babies going? Hehehehe.

Sitting in a boiling hot lounge
Dryer is in at the shop (hopefully getting fixed) and I really need some clothes for us all to wear tomorrow (and we've had torrential rain today) so we've lit the fire to hopefully get some clothes dry over night. Tis so toasty warm in here right now - I hope it's like this over winter.

In a while (when I'm not ready for bed, lol) I'm going to share my "how to keep silly old houses warm for winter" tips. This will be winter number six for me in the 1950's stucco with concrete tile roof house - each year we manage to keep it a little warmer.
