Topic: Different symptoms for diff pregnancies? Posted: 03 July 2010 at 8:22pm |
Last pregnancy by this stage I was feeling pretty rubbish - just wanted to sleep the day away as when I was sleeping at least I didn't know that I was feeling nauseas! I also couldn't stand the smell of chilli and garlic or cooking meat. It wasn't super bad MS and I didn't spew much but this pregnancy I feel fine except being a bit tireder and hungrier than usual. It's not that I WANT morning sickness - it's just the lack of it is starting to worry me a wee bit about the possibility of miscarriage. Not worrying a huge amount but just got a little while until my 12 week scan to verify that there is something there. Probably a bit of an irrational fear as I know there are people that don't get MS at all and there is still plenty of time for me to get it - its just that it's a bit different to my first pregnancy, thats all.
Has anyone else had MS for one of their pregnancies and not the other?

I can't comment, but I remember when I had morning sickness I wished it away then when it went away I worried so much I wished it would come back!
All the best It'll come soon enough! Mine didn't kick in until about 8 weeks properly. Before then from about 5-6 weeks there was a touch of nausea and vomiting but only enough for me to think it was a migraine.

Hi Delli,
The first thing everyone will tell you, is that every pregnancy is different. Whilst it sounds a bit lame, it is true. I've had 3 pregnancies to term (well I'm 29 weeks pregnant with number 3 at the moment) and each one is unique. I had dreadful MS with no 1, moderate MS with no 2 and almost none with no 3. Now the first 2 were girls and this one is a boy and I can honestly say that this pregnancy is about as opposite as you can get. So maybe you're having a baby of the opposite sex which is accounting for your lack of MS.
Worrying is normal and useful to some extent and I'm sure you'll be more relieved after your 12 week scan and you can actually see the heartbeat and the baby, but try not to over-examine everything. It really has no good outcome and is very time-consuming. Take it from someone who's been there many times before. And I know it's easy to say and not to do, but try to relax and enjoy this lack of MS. Not having MS is not a predictor or and indicator of a non-viable pregnancy, just a different baby at a different time in your life.
I hope this helps.

I had constant nausea and dizziness, which suddenly stopped when I was around 7 weeks and I was panicking. Ended up going to hospital for a scan as I had a little blood. Then at about 8.5 weeks the true nausea kicked in and I wish I was back when I had no nausea. Its one of those you stress if you do, stress if you dont situations.

my pregnancy this time has been 100% different - and I am certain it is because I am having a baby of the opposite sex to my last one. People say it is an old wives tale, but it does seem to have some truth in it.
I also wonder if age has anything to do with it - in my twenties when I had my son I barely knew I was pregnant, not much nausea, no heartburn, no ligament pain, no backpain, no braxton hicks...and I used to worry that I wasn't normal.
This time round as I'm approaching my mid 30s I've had the whole shebang and still worry that it's not normal...so what can you say!

With my first pregnancy I felt rubbish for weeks, really awful nausea and gagging and some vomiting.
With my second, I had mild nausea, it was sooo much better than with DS!
