Do you dress yourself in clothes appropriate to your age?

I went shopping today.. not really for me, but I dragged a friend along. I was a bit sneaky actually.. told her we were going for me but in actual fact I wanted to get her stuff..

She dresses in clothes that even my mumma would think are to old for mum. She's self conscious about her body since she had her baby and dresses in old peoples baggy as clothes that look like they are about 3 sizes too big. They have no shape what so ever. Not flattering at all.

So I took her into glassons and got her to try on some nice clothes, more befitting of her age (21) and that are actually the right size. I took a photo on my phone before and after and even she had to admit that wearing clothes that are right for her age and the right size did make her look smaller than she thought she was!

So yay! I told her I'd burn her clothes if I caught her wearing old people clothes again!

That is so lovely! And you did it in such a great way too!

Umm I think I wear age appropriate clothes, though I totally understand the hiding in big baggy clothes post-pregnancy.

I know another couple of people I'd love to do it to but I don't think it would go down so well with them.

I'm mostly age appropriate but every now and then I put on a pair of really really short shorts or something a teenager/early20s could wear - generally don't go further than my washing line in them though (I now have cellulite and stretch marks which I didn't have in my teens and early 20s and no one wants to see that!)

Go say you want to do it to me

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Stacey can you take me shopping?

I dress in what I'm comfortable in. I know what size fits me well so I buy that size.

I think I dress age appropriately. I like classic stuff but also have quite a few "this-seasons" items such as short shorts, dresses/tights etc. I like to be comfe and have a variety of things to wear based on mood. I love clothes ;) I don't do labels like I did as a teenager but like to combine classics (e.g. jeans, black pants etc) with latest season accessories, colours etc.

Hope you and your friend have fun!

I was just thinking today, man there's some really ugly clothes out there! I think I dress age-appropriate. Well I dress attractive/smart but maybe I look 30 instead of 25 at times

there is of course the other way when women in their fifties, insist on wearing clothes MUCH to young for them - it doesn't scream "young" more like "slapper" used to see it all the time at PNS - they bend down to get something abnd have BBC

Dress doesn't help much for me 'cos I just look young. I'm short (156 cm) and have a babyface. Unless I wear really formal clothes, people still confuse me for a teenager. I am 25 and keep getting asked by people standing outside with clipboards if I'm old enough to vote.

lol mostly i tend to go for the t-shirt and jeans, constantly, easy to just chuck on around the house and back an forth to work, but going out i dress-up a little, still not skanky, i bravest i go is those short-shorts when it's mega hot outside, and even then, they really aren't THAT short.

Oh I wish I could wear the short shorts!  They look so cool for round home and the park - but not on my leggies!

I like to dress nicely and only go super-casual if I'm painting outside or feeling really sick!  That said - I really do need to watch some Trinny & Suzannah for some hints on what suits which body shapes.  I hemmed a few skirts after one of those TV shows showed me the error of my ways, and am in the process of saying goodbye to my beloved fave pants that do nothing good for my butt unfortunately (so DH and my sis tell me).  He he... it's a long process - I have to find some equally fabulous ones that fit just right, and one by one farewell all 3 pairs of my good ol' faves.

Stacey I think your shopping trip with your friend was just the coolest idea!  It's so sad when people hide their gorgeous selves under tent-clothes!

A friend of mine is a Personal Wardrobe Stylist. She is one of the most friendly and encouraging ladies I know! She seems to find a way to honestly and sincerely make everyone feel fabulous. Her son is the same age as Elle. Next time we do an Oh! Baby mega meet we should invite her along!
