Infant capsule, is so handy for taking him into cafe's etc and supermarket has those trolleys designed for them to fit in as well. Plunket hire them out as well.
Breastpump.
Playmat.
Frontpack.
Pack of old style cloth nappies to use as burp clothes and to use on changing tables/mats when out.

My snap n go wheels (rented from the baby factory) are great if you have a capsule. Babies start off pretty light to carry around but they get heavy pretty darn quickly!!
My respisense monitor is worth every cent for the peace of mind it gives me.
I think the other thing at the moment is the play gym - it's just a hand-me-down cheapie but you can change the toys around and Alex happily spends 45 minutes at a time under there, which is great if I need to have a shower or do things around the house.

I would definitley say the Angel care monitor - Sam stopped breathing one night a few weeks ago (was trying to smother herself!!!). Gave us the fright of our lives but thank goodness for that monitor!

oh great post!
definitely old cloth nappies as 'spill cloths' etc!
wraps were THE best until the Peke Moe now I couldn't be without that!
jolly jumper was awesome for 3-8monthsold
don't worry about flash toys, they love jars with rice in it etc!
a 'walker'/ activity centre - my baby has reflux and being upright was sooooooooo much better for him
but you just can't beat having aa 4.5year old brother who is THE best big brother in the world I think!!
