Yup Call Centre....
Now if I could take a moment for two major apologies people I have dealt with this morning...
I'm very sorry to the the secretarty of a certian prominent polication...that we don't fly domestically within Australia.
I'm very sorry to the person missing points from a Singapore Airlines flight....that I don't feel like copping the company a $10million (yes $10mill!) fine for adding points earned on SQ flights that I shouldn't be adding to your Air NZ account.
Oh and I'm very sorry to the person who called wanting information on another person's account without having thier pin number...no....again...I don't wanna get pinged for breaching the privacy act!!!

I remember some of the stories my sis told me about working there Gen! Its unbelievable how stupid and unreasonable some people are.
I wonder if they'd be brave enough to be as rude in person or if the anonymity of the phone makes them nuttier?

I work in a call centre. For telstraclear. Its AMAZING how rude people get. I have been abused, sworn at, called every name under the sun, all for wht? Not wanting to breach privacy act and giving out someones details, addresses, who they have called, who has called them. Then theres the 'you overcharged us' people that havent actually been overcharged and just bi*ch winge and moan untill you just cant be bothred anymore and tell them you will gibe them 2 free movies (sky) or some other small thing.. then theres the people that dont want a bar of you and want a manager immediatly. Even if there isnt one available.

I used to be in a call centre (finance company) and the worst for trying to get information without providing written authority were lawyers. You'd think that after spending years at law school they might have actually learnt something about the NZ law!!

Theres the time i was called a half wit, told to go f myself, im not paying my bill, ive been spoken to like i knew nothing about what they are talking about, had my position questioned.. OMG its never ending the rudeness people display when they know that you cant see them!!

I hung up on a client for swearing at me. I told him that I don't tolerate that kind of language and if he uses it again then I will be terminating the call then the next time he swore I hung up. My boss fully supported me too.
I've also had someone ask to speak to a man becuase (although I was senior and much more experienced) he didn't believe that I knew what I was talking about being a woman.
One thing I learnt in the call centre and in my latest incarnation dealing with complaints and complex enquiries is if in doubt be a mum and treat them like the child they're acting, none of us get paid enough to put up with that kind of behaviour!!

The rude customers are definately something I am not looking forward to when I go back to work. They can be awfully rude in disrupts (ie. Fog) in person too.

Lol funnily enough i actually really enjoy my job.. been in customer servce for about 8 years now... I prefer to be on phones as I can hide my face whereas face to face custies are able to see me get angry.. I can hide my anger when im speaking tho which makes it alot easier!! lol
