That is cool - more doctors should be like that instead of just opting for c-section straight away (which happens way more in the US than here).

I found this bit really disturbing:
In 24 years and 8 months of assisting women in birth in the hospital, I have never seen a woman birth on hands and knees. I've never seen an OB or a CNM allow a woman to birth in the hands and knees position. I have never seen an OB do a vaginal exam on a woman in any position except on her back until this birth when this doctor did a vaginal exam with mom on her hands and knees. I actually wondered if he could even find her vagina with her on her hands and knees!
While we aren't perfect here by any means, most women I know who have had natural births have birthed this way (or any way they find comfortable) other than on their back. To have seen NONE in 24 years just blows me away - how backwards must their system be?

I know, its sad isnt it that all those women arent given the option to birth in their own way - it has totally been taken out of their hands. What a great doctor.

That bothered me too, miss. I tried birthing on hands and knees twice, neither time worked but at least I was allowed to try, and I have never seen stirrups yay!

I know miss, I was really shocked by that too, I gave birth both times like that and most of my VE weres while I was pretty much sitting down in the bath lol
Have you ever watched maternity ward on sky? They are all stuck in the bed on their backs and get talked out of even trying for no pain relief.
So was that lady not a fully qualified midwife? Is a CNM a midwife or what.
