Topic: Im going to cry, (here comes bridezilla) Posted: 21 October 2008 at 11:02pm |
I have just had a phone call from MIL-2-b, and after all the waiting, it seems that her machine is not able to sew my material for the dresses for the bridesmaids. so here we are with some ridiculously small time left, just over 2 weeks.. until the big day, and no bridesmaids dresses. she has arranged for a dressmaker friend of hers to make the dresses, and can sort out for my moh to get measured for it to be made. but well, as my other bridesmaid lives in new plymouth, has just started a new job, and does not drive.. she isn't able to get here until the day before the wedding. which means that we cannot get her measured, Mil does not think the lady will make the dress without taking measurements from amy herself. it's jsut not going t happen. The only other option is that the lady waits till amy gets here on the friday evening, takes the measurements and makes the dress and hopefully finishes it by the afternoon of the wedding (which is soooo not what i need to be worrying about on the day)
here' it comes, it's all turning to boogers, didn't i say that this would happen.
ARGHARGHARGH fricken dresses. I should have bought them, i was going to buy them, why didn't i buy them.
I want to cry...... no wait. I am.
stupid stupid stupid.

I agree with Rianna - can she go to a dressmaker here and get her measurements done? There are plenty of them around. I'm sure when the dressmaker you have has the situation explained to her she should be ok, especially as it will also ultimately make things easier for her by giving her slightly more time.
Good luck!!

I know people who have been measured properly by other dressmakers and then sent details. Don't worry it will all be absolutely fine. These wee things always happen in the weeks before hand. Everything will be just perfect on the day.

that's what I did for my nieces, as they're in Chch, and the dressmaker was in Akl.
It was much easier to have the dresses, hemmed and taken in than have the whole thing made in 1 day.
I'd be stressing too.

Can she get her dress made by a different dressmaker even? My bridesmaids had their dresses made by different people, one here in Hamilton and one in Sydney, but it was the same batch of material and they all looked the same.
Good luck, I'm sure it will all be perfect for you on your big day And you wouldn't be a bride if you didn't vent beforehand!

*hugs* Janine, I'd be crying too! Surely the dressmaker wouldn't be a b*tch about it and not *need* to take the measurements herself?!
Like the ladies said surely your BM could get measurements done in her local area and send these to you?
Good luck

Awwww, I think I'd have been having a cry about that too! It will be OK... measurements can be taken anywhere and a good dressmaker can whip up wonders.

I agree with her getting measurements done by someone in New Plymouth. It will be totally o.k!!
My bridesmaid lived in England and she got her friend to take her measurements and text them to me here in NZ and we got the dress made and it fitted perfectly!
Honestly it will be fine!!!

Nothing helpful to add sorry. I think there's some good options here for you - get her to be measured by a dressmaker in NP or even get one down there to make her dress.
Your day will be perfect!

Wellity well. Here's what happened. Mike mum has the lady she knows who is doing the dresses, she is wonderfully wonderful. Carmen has been measured for her dress on Thursday, we are going for a final fitting alreadyon monday!. Amy on the other hand couldn't get here on any of the many days and has now told me last night that her ride to the wedding has fallen through so she can't come.
So it's down to 1 bridesmaid.. whose dress is pretty much all done. the end.
Am a bit gutted about the 2nd one. I can see and understand but the other side of me thinks oh for creepers can't she get it sorted for 1 day?! argh.
oh well.
