Topic: Lucy & Zoes Birthday... Posted: 28 November 2008 at 2:06pm |
Is in a few weeks time and I was wondering if you have to send the kids home with a little doggy bag?? or what is the correct name?
I don't want Lucy's friends saying " that was a dumb party mum as we didn't get anything afterwards " haha not sure if that will happen.
And for those that do, what do you put in the bags?
Not sure that we can afford to do it really.

I definitely don't think they're complusory & that's pretty stink if kids these days expect them . I like KiwiMummy's suggestion of a lollipop & balloon though - nice & cheap. Or you could just send them home with a piece of b'day cake?? (do people even still do this?).

Cake wrapped up in a paper towel and some lollies, that is what we took home from parties when I was a kid!
I am going to play pass the parcel, and might be decorating a crown (princess party).
Gees I must have major baby brain, yes goodie bags! not doggy! or dodgy!

I meant to say as well if my child(ren) ever come home from a party complaining that they didn't get anything afterward they'll be told off for being ungrateful.

I am sure that there will be plenty of cake to take home, as I am doing one for each girl.

I do like the idea of make something for them to take home .. however I would presume that would be more toddler aged ... so I need to keep that idea filed in my brain somewhere for a few more years

At the last party DS went to one of the kids mothers was waiting for him to go home and he asked where his party bag was . I mean, they were sitting on the table and the kids had all seen them but still! I have always told Z that if he gets something he is lucky but not to expect it, and it isnt his birthday it is his friends anyway.

We gave them out at Joshies birthday, but only beacause the venue we had it at provided them.
At one party we went to this year they gave all the kids a swan plant which was pretty cool!

I always do them , ...and I always regret it , simply because they are such a pain to do , I get the "goodies" from the 2 shop and add one of those party pack chocolates .
Every birthday party C goes to she comes home with a goodie bag, which is why Ive always done one for hers.
But no longer ! I rebel! , besides , the next party she has will be when shes 10, and if they want goodie bags then ....well, i shall make fun of them .
As for baby , I shall start the taking home cake and a balloon tradition .
edited to add an exclamation mark by rebel, so you know how serious I am

I really don't get the concept anyway, parents should be thankful their kids get entertained by someone else for a few hours
But... we went to my friend's son's 3rd bday recently, and we got a goody bag (doggy bag is what you get your leftovers in at a restaurant lol) with a bubble bottle and wand, balloon, freddo frog and lollipop. I had the choc and lollipop, DS popped the balloon within a day, and I wrapped up the bubble stuff to put in his stocking for Xmas (how cheap is that - but by then he would have run out of the other stuff we have lol).

We have just had DS 1st birthday and I sent all the kids home with a balloon on a stick. You buy the sticks at the warehouse in a pack of 12 for $2.50 and then just buy the balloons. At the party yesterday afternoon there was the age range from 1-9 years and they all seemed pretty happy. I have had a couple of texts from the Mums of a couple of 1 year olds saying there kids are loving the balloons on a stick and are carrying them round.
The other thing I would do is maybe bake some cupcakes and make up some icing and have some lollies and the older kids can decorate a cuacke to take home and the younger ones can just have a balloon.
