Topic: Eww I think this is so gross Posted: 19 December 2008 at 2:12pm |
I had a friend over yesterday, with her 2 yr old girl who's in the process of toilet training. They'd not long been at my place when Miss 2 needed to go to the toilet. Afterwards we were sitting on the couch when I noticed Miss 2 who was wearing a dress, wasn't wearing any knickers. She had her fingers all over her "parts" and then was touching and playing with one of my kids toys. My friend was telling Miss 2 to not touch herself there, but this didn't deter Miss 2 from doing it. She went to the toilet 3 times while as my place (in a space of 1.5 hrs), and after each time came back to the couch to play with this toy, whilst still touching "down there".
My friend said she'd slightly wet her knickers as to why she wasn't wearing any, and after seeing her touching herself and then playing with my kids toys, I offered a pair of Gia's knickers for her to wear, but my friend said no, it was ok.
Once they left, I picked up the toy Miss 2 had been playing with (with a paper towel, not my bare hands) and disinfected it!!
Isn't that soo gross letting your child after weeing, to touch herself there and then touch toys?? Or anything in fact?
It makes me wonder how many things she touched once she got home, with her dirty hands!

Horrible.
Did she have anything to eat while at yours? I wonder if her mum makes her wash her hands before eating.

Yeah she had a biscuit, but I think that was before she starting the "touching".
Also I would've thought, knowing that you're toilet training your child, that she would've brought a spare pair of knickers with her, or at least taken up my offer to borrow a pair of Gia's. It's not like she was wearing shorts to cover things up.

I'm surprised that she didn't have a change of knickers too... and that she didn't take up your offer of having a pair of Gia's.
Maybe they just aren't that big on hygiene... Also it sounds like she needs to teach her daughter how to wipe properly, she shouldn't be itching/touching like that; makes me wonder if there's more to it???

I wouldn't assume that there was "something to it" she is just learning to toilet train.... so I figure it's always been covered up my a nappy therefore it's new to touch.
I don't let mine run round naked in public, I don't like it and I don't understand why she wouldn't want her kid in knickers while at someone else house... all to thier own but ewwwe gross Not the kids fault though aye. They all touch it as some stage but I do think it should be covered up while out.
ETA: And EWWW for the mum not noticing that she was spreading bacteria A bottle of PURELL for xmas maybe?

i know when DS started toilet training he would always be wanting to touch himself. That was fine but only at home definately not when we were out. He did a lot of experimenting with pulling and pushing it in and he once put it in a plastic bottle and said "look mum it fits!!!" (then also put his finger in the bottle) PMSL when he said that sort of out of shock but the thing is it is completely natural but ewwwww at someone elses house...did you wash what she was sitting on also?
HAHA to the purell comment.
My son almost has a ocd when it comes to hand washing now so we are very pleased we were so strict when he was younger in regards to that.
BTW he no longer touches himself anymore.

Yeah she was sitting on the floor a lot too, and the dress wasn't that long that it cover her bottom completely when she was sitting down . Umm, think that's why knickers were invented?? To keep bums off the ground! I know it's only natural for kids to touch themselves down there, but just after going for a wee, and then touching other things is the bit that grossed me out.

Thats so wrong
I used to work with this woman who had little kids anyway one day I dropped her home after work. She asked me inside for a coffee, which I agreed to. Once we were inside I see her three year old boy running around with a t-shirt but absolutly nothing covering his bottom and the dog keeps coming up to him and licking his boy bits!?!?!?!?! Talk about disturbing! I was outta there quick smart. The worst part was both parents were in the room but just pretending like they couldn't see what was going on
Gross!

yeah that is pretty gross (the toy touching part), toilet training is messy business at the best of times, she should have taken up your offer of a pair of undies at least! I dont blame you for disinfecting the toy!

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I think its pretty normal for kids to touch down there but they do need to learn there is a time and place.
