Now that the weather is getting colder i want to know if its ok to walk with a baby?
DD is 3 months old, i have a nice pram with rain cover & that wind cover thing lol. And of cource if i go with DD i put her in Hat, mittins etc if cold.
Of cource its not winter yet though, how do you ladies feel about taking babys out in the cold????????????????

if you were worried you could carry her in a sling instead. i did this in winter with my baby when i had to go to kindy etc... i used a meitei so bub was pretty much tied to my front and cause she was still young her legs were pulled up like a froggy. very cosy for both of us.

We walked all weather and seasons with Issy and she was fine. She was usually in her gogo bag .. with a hoodie, and hat on, inside her Silly Billyz sleeping bag (which stayed in her pram).
She was always fine

She'll probably be warmer than you will be if it's a cold day. I've been caught walking in thunder and hail storms and Cooper is the only one who stays nice and cosy! So not fair!

Those storm covers are like a giant incubator Seriously, feel how warm it gets in there after a walk in the cold and you'll be quite surprised! I've walked with Jack in all weathers at all ages through last year and he was never cold. It's just now that's the issue as he moves too much and pulls his hat, gloves, shoes and well everything off

Agree with Emz, you put your hand into the pram & it's so toasty! Elise was always on the sideline of a rugby field last winter with her rain cover, shawl, hat, mittens, socks, polyprop, tights & normal clothing ... I prob got a bit carried away with what I put on her, but she never got sick

I dress my DD up warmly, like the other ladies, and off we go.
She loves getting out in the fresh air and is always dry and warm in her blankets and with the stormcover on the pram
I've been pretty lazy the last few weeks actually, thanks for reminding me to get back into it!

I sometimes found I actually needed to lift the sides of the storm cover to let some air through especially if the day warmed up as I was walking. It could get abit *too* warm under there

Hi Sabrina - we are in Welly too and our older daughter was born at the start of winter. We have a dog so have to walk in ALL weather. Our MW told us that we sould get out and walking as soon as I felt up to it post birth, so 3 days after Amy arrived she was bundled up and off we went!!
I will put up a photo later when i have a bit more time. As long as they are well covered and you have a cover if it is nasty, she will be fine. Get out there and enjoy it. You will both love it.

it would depend on what sort - i used a meitei and that was great and i suppose a poncho would be best for rain protection.

Caden was born in late June when its very cold and I went out with him heaps, I just made sure he was dressed up really warm and he was in his buggy sleep sack and had an extra blanket over him if it was reallllyyyy cold, and then the rain cover over the pram. All Good
Like the others said, they are more warm than you are, in a pram with the rain cover over top!

Definitely DONT use the cold as an excuse! Rug up bubs and if you've got a cover, use it!
My rain cover actually started fogging up a few weeks ago when I took Lily for a walk when it rained, so I had to open it up a wee bit more!! But she was so cosy and happy (apart from not being able to see cos of the fogged up bit!
Good luck with the weight loss!

TBH a sling can be really uncomfortable. I'd get a wrap or something where the weight was more evenly distributed. I had a wrap for Jake and had a jacket that was a size too big. If the weather wasn't too yuck I'd have a polar fleece (again a size too large) to keep us both warm without overheating.

i carried my niece in a sling all the time and loved it. im used to a side shoulder bag so i found it quite comfy. but i never took her out walking because i only had her part time so squashed my exercise in elsewhere. i walk to uni and back inc the hil so a buggy or capsule is totally unpractical but im worried bout the rain. would they be able to breathe ok if you had a jacket covering them, even if it was oversized? sorry to hijack thread ive been thinking bout this whole walking in bad weather thing for most of my pregnancy
