Topic: How would you tell someone.. Posted: 17 August 2009 at 5:04pm |
... that they smell bad, like bad breath or BO....
Reason for asking is a mate of a mate says her hubby has become a bit lax in this department and she doesn't know how to broach it with him and I'm the straight up type but shes not so just spitting it out isn't her style lol. Poor girl says she dreads kissing him at the moment, I'd tell him to go brush his teeth if he wants a kiss lol

Sorry I just giggled too. Seriously though I know it's not her style but it's her husband so she needs to be straight up about it.
Best I can suggest is to set some time aside where they won't be interrupted to talk and when they're talking for her to focus on how it makes her feel etc. rather than using language that blames him.
Still if it were me I'd be kicking him out of the bed until he literally cleans up his act

Me I would just say you stink, ha ha, but then I am straight up with DH,
She needs a plan, get new toothbrushes for them both, toothpaste, mouthwash & tell him she read something about gum disease so they are going to prevent it. Also get new soap, body wash & get him a new deodorant, she cold say it turns her on
If she makes out she is spoiling him then she may get a nice smelling DH, but if he is a bit dense she may have to tell him, or wear a gas mask.

I tell my DP all the time if he smells, I'll just say babe you need to have a shower or something along those lines. He will say the same to me as well. We are pretty blunt with each other (8yrs does that) and will tell eachother if we need to poop lol but then thats just us.

A sexy shower for two can work wonders, or even a "why don't you go jump in the shower and we'll se what happens"

Wow I am susprised that people are not straight up about things like that, especially with your DH/DW. I think my DH would hate me if I thought he smelt bad and didn't let him know lol!!!
My DH has no chance of even getting in the bed smelling bad, let alone getting a kiss or a BD from me!
Sorry I don't have any advice really, like someone suggested already maybe buy him some really nice shower gel etc and he might get the "hint" lol

Gosh if you cant tell your partner they stink then who can you tell!
I have no probs telling DH he smells.. likewise he has told me I have not smelt so good on a few ocassions (who does after a run sheesh!).
I cant think of any advice, I just cant imagine not being able to be completely open and honest with my man.
side note, there is no way DH would be getting a bj if he was smelly ewwwww.

def a shower works!!!
when DH has tonsilittis i tell him straight out "honey your breathe stinks" or "omg you have bad breath tonight" - he cant help that one but knows that I am concious of it...so no full on nooky nooky then!
we do have one person involved with work that has awful BO - like I wanna spew when they come in....i could not tell them (i dont know them well enough) but she learnt it when someone independent had to write about issues and they raised this about this person...and person took offence...no idea what it was about them tho as they always looked liek just got outta shower....but BO was BAD....

That was my exact reaction!!! To be honest, they're married, so she should just be brave enough to say something. No point beating around the, ahem, bush on this one!

Yep sorry, I agree, if you can't tell your DH he stinks who CAN you tell?
Ewwwwwwwwww the thought of stinky boy and bad breath makes me feel right now. I always tell my DH if he smells funny And he doesn't hesitate to tell me the same. Guess it's pretty important here when it's so darn hot all the time!

I was going to say that maybe the bad breath is a sign of something a little off in his tum until I read further....
But yeah after 13+ years of being together brings out the bluntness

Jezsika that reminds me of college people using deoderant like it's a shower
Yeah, when your with someone, you have to be honest if you want the relationship to work, because having a shower together will only fix the problem for a night. It's the way you say it that matters, and letting them know its a two-way thing!

Yeah like others have said, that's strange to me for someone not to be able to be honest with their DP/DH..
No smint, no kiss.
No shower, no action!
