... Fletch & Vaughan's 3-7pm radio timeslot on Auckland's 94.2fm The Edge
Some of you will already be aware of this, and I do apologise as this is really just a big copy / paste job, but for those who aren't...
I am wanting to organise somewhat of a pro-bf protest / petition / boycott / nurse in, after something that happened to me on the 16th (Wednesday).
I was picking DH up from the ferry as usual around 5:30pm, and listening to the radio as I waited in the car.
My 'radar' went off when I heard one of the two make an off the cuff comment along the lines of having a problem with "women who think they can just breastfeed anywhere", so I told them via txt message that my baby has the right to eat in public just as much as they do, and if they don't like it then don't look - the reply I got was "just do it in the baby room". NOT cool.
I sent a second text back to them saying "What else do you think breasts are for? They are designed to FEED BABIES !!" and the response to that was "for gawking at !?" RARRRGH.
So far I have a Facebook group set up, and with a bit of work have managed to download and transcribe from a freely available podcast on iTunes exactly what was said.
The FB group is here:
Women who CAN breastfeed anywhere !!
And below is the transcript of the comments I have a problem with:

TRANSCRIPT OF THE PODCAST OF FLETCH & VAUGHAN ON 94.2FM THE EDGE (AUCKLAND) ON WEDNESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER
(SEGMENT START POINT IN PODCAST: 9m03s)
Sharyn: And once again, the same story that’s been coming up for the last 5 years, Janet Jackson’s boob came out in the superbowl back in 2004 and its been brought up again and it’s going through all this legal drama...so...
Fletch / Vaughan: Let it go aye, I can’t believe it’s still being talked about...
Who is that offended by a titty? Like whose... really who saw that and was absolutely shocked by a titty?
Sharyn: I was more shocked at her poor taste in fashion in having it done...
Fletch / Vaughan: I see more titties at the mall where women think it’s alright to breastfeed in the middle of the place!
Do not start that argument, do not start that argument... !
(SEGMENT END POINT IN PODCAST: 9m38s)

The next step in my plan is to draft an email to the Broadcasting Standards Authority, MediaWorks - the company that owns The Edge, and then to the station itself.
Last but not least, I am also thinking of somehow organising a nurse-in, but the logistics of this are a little more complex (mind you it's mainly lack of experience on my part) - although I have a few women on board already who are keen to come along and flop their boobs out
I figure the more people I tell about this the better too, so feel free to check out the group and share it with others
NB - I do want to make it clear that this is definitely not a breast vs bottle issue, it is to do with the media's attitude towards women's bodies and the sexualisation of what is a totally normal and natural bodily function.
I am also aware that it is a popular station and probably holds the view that 'any publicity is good publicity', but I feel that this is worth my time regardless and am hoping that maybe others will feel the same.
