Topic: Intimate question Posted: 29 October 2009 at 2:30pm |
Hi there
I'm Lisa and have just had my BFP
Question is that Is it ok to BD during 1st trimester pregnancy especially after having a previous mc???
Sorry if this has been asked before or is TMI but just wanted some good honest opinions from you girls.
Don't want to be too mean to my DH lol

Hi Lisa, First of all, CONRATS!!
In the bounty pack your MW should give you there is a booklet on this. They pretty much say it is ok unless there is a risk of MC during the 1st 12-14 weeks - which is probably not particularly helpful to you. I would say listen to your body regarding this, and see your GP asap and ask them. TBH BDing is the last thing i feel like in the 1st trimester - too tired, sick & grumpy - DH luckily understands.

thanks squoggs.
At this early early stage the only thing I have is really really sore bb's!!
Seeing Dr next week so will ask all those horrible questions you really don't want to. Luckily my Dr is really cool and doesn't make you feel weird for asking those "funny" questions

Lisa - I had an MC then got preg the next cycle. even though there no medical reason for the MC, so BDing was still ok, but i was just sooooo nervous about doing it just in case. but all was fine. we didnt do anything rigorous and not very often.
Funny thing is, when i finally made it past 12 weeks, i jumped my DH only to then a few mins later have sudden loss of movement in my hand which turned out to be a growth on my brain (still no idea wat the growth is but its shrinking)..........so hmmmmmm well BD didnt get a good rap from me even though they would be completely non related.........lol......
but you will be fine..........BD away I say if you have the urge. I havent been as keen this pregnancy, but with my second i was a rabbit and was sick all day yet still jumped my DH at night.......lol

Congrats on your BFP
We had 3 m/c before getting our girls, but still BDed in the first trimester - we just made sure it wasn't too energetic or deep. In saying that, it wasn't a common occurrence because I was on progesterone pessaries so it wasn't exactly appealing LOL and add the nausea to the equation as well...

I had multiple MCs before this BFP and we still BD'd through the first trim. Like Kate said just not too energetic or deep and if it got uncomfortable whichit occasionally did we'd stop. Once MS kicked in Bd'ing took a dive coz I couldn't get into it but TBH I don't know that watching your girlfriend/wife chuck her guts everywhere is such a turn-on anyway

Minik8e I am on progesterone too. Am supposed to stop them at 12 weeks which was two days ago. When did you stop taking them, and did you just stop cold turkey or half the dose for a week? No one is really 'managing' this for me and I am unsure what to do. You are the first person Iv'e seen on here who used progesterone, any advice is greatly appreciated.
And back to the topic... after one prev mc we have been bd'ing during first trimester although not quite as often as normal.
