I can recommend Lasinoh! I used that and my nipples felt much better after a few days.. only used a little bit and they were fine. Hope someone else can help with the other q's!

Breast milk. If you have a deep freez i think it can be frozen for a month. If you have a fridge freezer it can store for 1 week. (as far back as possible)
Sore nipples. I just expressed milk onto mine and rubbed it in worked really well.
Jaundice. give baby no nappy time in sun as often as possible. Sunlight really helps jaundice

I got some little plastic sterile containers from the chemist (Avent ones) and they can be used 4 times I think, now they get used for freezing baby food - very handy! Or you can get little freezer bags that are like ice cubes IYKWIM!
It can be frozen for 3 months in a normal freezer if you keep it near the back, up to 6 months in a deep freeze.
Lansinoh is wonderful and you dont need very much of it. And its ok to leave it on there when baby feeds.
Hannah was a little jaundiced when we came home from the hospital so I had to put her bassinett in the sun when she slept during the day.
Hope that helps Kelly

My midwife with Josiah recommended freezing breastmilk flat in those little sandwich sized ziplock bags, because the Glad ones have a write-on panel, so you can label them with the date... and once its frozen, you can stack them easily!

For sore nipples my midwife reccomended that after feeding, squeeze a little milk out and rub it in and then let it dry and air for a couple of minutes. I stored breast milk in little bottles that they use at hospital. Still have heaps sitting around if you would like them.
The best time to express is straight after feeding. If baby is eating off of one side only, express off the side they have just fed from until none comes out, and then express for 5-10 minutes from other side. Thats what nurse told me anyway.

As for time of day, I was told that it's better in the morning, but at the same time you could do it after every feed if you want

Yep morning is best (quickest time) to express. Milk is also better quality in the morning.

Frozen breast milk may be kept for two weeks in a freezer box inside a refrigerator; three months in a front opening freezer or fridge/freezer; or six months in a chest freezer at a constant -20 degrees C.
Marcia Roberts is a Lactation Consultant and Registered Midwife at National Women’s Hospital in Auckland. Previously, she was a Plunket Nurse for ten years and a leader for La Leche League.
[From Littlies Website]
I used Purelan and it was fantastic for sore nipples. And seconding what Maria said too, rubbing breastmilk onto nipples.
I expressed in the morning before Han woke up. Used to get quite a bit (very easy to stimulate let down when you are dying to wake your baby up!). Then feed her afterwards. This meant that my supply would increase more so I could in turn express easier!

Annnnnd, forgot to say. I used to just freeze breastmilk into ice cubes and then transfer them into glad bags.
And don't add fresh milk to frozen. (I did before I found out - oops!)

I used to express on one saide while jake drank from the other. i found i could get heaps of milk then. This was when jake was little and not really drinking too much at a time - could be a little difficult when they get older and need both sides.
Jake had jaundice. if it gets serious, they go to hospital and put them under U.V lights - pretty much just the sun but stronger. And only for a couple of hours and then you go home again. it's not relaly a huge deal.

Lansinoh is FAB stuff!!! And you can leave it on for feeding. Don't need too much of it as said before.
And yeah, sunbathing for jaundice in a warm room. Congrats by the way!

My son Josh got jaundice really bad and at 18 hours old had to have phototheraphy (like a sun bed) He was boarder line on getting a blood transfusion but lucky his billy rubin levels came down. My daughter got it but not bad and I had to sit her near a window in the sunlight but not for too longer periods at a time as they can over heat and there is a risk of getting sunburnt even through the window. will post a pic of my 9lb 5oz son in the neo natal getting phototherphy - 13 years ago By the way I never got told to strip the baby off to put in sunlight just as long as in hte sunlight.... she got rid of it pretty quick like that.
